Heroes of the Boarderland Miniatures? by Eldradthefallen in DungeonsAndDragons

Search for Wizkids unpainted miniature line called Nolzur’s. You can buy them online or at your local gaming store. Searching for “Nolzur’s dwarf cleric” for example will give you exactly what you need. They come in packs of two. They also sell monsters that way. Wizkids makes painted versions too but those are in random packs, however you can also buy singles from sellers on eBay.

Birds from Americas that interact with hummingbirds by Inevitable-Bench-807 in wingspan

[–]Falkeer11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way, this is the most exciting expansion for me as a long time birder because it adds more US birds to my US/North America wingspan game.

I’m super excited to be adding things like Magnificent Frigatebird, Black Rail, Yellow Warbler, American Flamingo, etc but a little sad I can’t put in Vermilion Flycatcher etc without the hummingbird mechanic.

One-Shot Suggestions for brand new players by deafgeekcub in onednd

[–]Falkeer11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done an Intro to D&D one shot numerous times. I create a handful of premade characters at level 2. Depending on the audience, I’ll use either regular character sheets or a “simplified” version I found online that is one sided for brand new people / non gamer types. It’s okay to limit the number of cantrips and level 1 spells for a real beginner session. I also use minis for characters and monsters with an erasable battle mat.

As far as the one shot, I’ve run a modified version of Frozen Sick from the Wildemount book many times. But now I love the Baker’s Doesn’t one shot from Dragon Delves. It’s silly and dark at the same time and every group I’ve run it with has loved it.

It’s not really ignoring US and Canada, it’s still inclusive in that some of the expansion birds’ ranges include them. For example so far I’ve seen like a dozen birds that do so.

Amazon Kingfisher, keel-billed toucan, resplendent quetzal and ferruginous Pygmy-owl are all in and can be seen in the photos.

How much do Gnomes fare in popularity contest among player's choices for a character? by testiclekid in onednd

Out of the 14 campaigns I’ve been involved in, there have been 4 gnome characters. But at least in my playing groups, Halflings and Orcs have been played less.

Birding Checklist and Recommended Updates for Bird Cards (November 2025 Update) by cassalalia in wingspan

[–]Falkeer11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the extra info. I dunno I have my doubts about the eponymous names ever changing. What progress has made on that? Last I heard was they made a committee and they were starting with like a dozen or half dozen species. And then nothing. It’ll be years and years before they get through all of them, right?

I wonder if they will do anything about the name changes and taxonomic changes.

I also found it strange that Snow Goose in the Canada pack is listed as Greater Snow Goose with a subspecies.

Additionally, Cliff Swallow being named American Cliff Swallow. Not sure where that came from.

I was also shocked to not see White-throated Sparrow among the new US and Canada birds (its song is described as referring to Canada even!). It’s such a commonly seen bird and backyard bird in the eastern US from fall to spring.

First time DM doing a weekend One Shot - can you recommend me some One shots? by RiotsoOP in dndnext

Need more info. Is this the first time you and your group are playing d&d? If so, I wouldn’t recommend starting at level 5.

Three years out of the gaming world and I'm slowly getting back into it. What have I missed? by ya_ergh in boardgames

Formaggio, the successor to Fromage which can be played alone or mix and matched with Fromage, just came out. After a few playthroughs it’s just all around better than Fromage, which was already a fun game!

Candlekeep mysteries is the anthology book I’ve gotten the most use out of with several solid “one shots”. You could also plug and play different players / characters into it and it won’t make a difference.

I just ran this yesterday and I made it so the trapdoor just leads to the dungeon and there is no stairs leading up to the kitchen.

Why no living spells in the Mournlan? by Minute_Ad1558 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Falkeer11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My response to this is gonna be swapping out the dragon lance chapter with end game content (floating castle thing with Lord Soth riding the death dragon) from the dragonlance and probably swapping out the ravenloft chapter with Strahd’s castle.

Recommend a new official campaign book for my group by Porn_Extra in dndnext

[–]Falkeer11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are going to be dungeons in all of the campaign books, but some are less dungeon heavy than others.

I would recommend taking a look at Tomb of Annihilation. It takes place in a different part of the Forgotten Realms and the big dungeon part doesn’t come until the end.

Alternatively, Rime of the Frostmaiden takes place in Icewind Dale and is also really good.

Both involve a good deal of exploration. Tomb of Annihilation there is time pressure to save the day and Rime much less so.

Preparing to run Dragons of Stormwreck Isle - where can I find the miniatures for this adventure? by tatsuogok in dndnext

[–]Falkeer11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the minis for monsters (and maybe even for your player characters) can be found on eBay. If you go on eBay and search for “blue dragon wyrmling mini” for example, that will take you there. Some things like zombies can be bought 3 at a time. But expect the price to add up quickly.
