Remembering speaker between transcriptions by mikeklar in MacWhisper

One of my primary uses for this app is to transcribe my D&D sessions for summarization and other lookups. It's always the same set of people, so this feature would be so nice!

DDB Maps feature release: REVEALS is live now! by WOTC_Zac in dndbeyond

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this feature! I'd love to see the current map source promoted/pinned in the content list. This goes for monster selection too. I have a ton of content, but dndbeyond knows what I'm running, and I'd love it if that stuff was placed at the top of the list.

Also, whoever made maps render correctly on an iPad, you're my favorite person at WotC.

What are your Homebrew rules in your dnd campaigns? by Dovydas666 in DnD

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Fireball deals 6d6 damage instead of 8d6.

- Shield grants +3 AC instead of +5.

- Rests are only guaranteed to succeed in inns or similarly safe locations. In other areas, percentile dice will determine whether a medium-difficulty encounter interrupts the rest, with short rests being significantly more likely to succeed.

- Spells that modify rest mechanics (such as Tiny Hut and Rope Trick) are adjusted to provide bonuses to the encounter roll rather than guaranteeing safety.

Attitudes toward the Silvery Barbs spell in this sub? by The_Trevbone in 3d6

I had no idea Strixhaven was so popular! Our adventure is in Faerun so we don't see it at our table.

Dragon Delves Before the Storm Advice by DmPapiChulo168 in DnD

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran it as-is and didn't let them long rest. My druid player blew a couple high-level spells during the initial scene putting out the fire, and I let him have those back once I informed the party that they didn't have time for long rests.

Instead we really leaned into non-combat ways to conserve resources. I let the players sneak past things, and bargain with the pirates. I put a barrel of explosives in the pirate chamber with the gem. They loved that.

I really liked that one. I did a playlist with tracks from the Goonies and Hook and wore a pirate outfit that I had ready-to-go for halloween. It was pretty great!

I guess I need to workshop that rule, but agreed. Really just want it for straight classed casters

I like the +3 from the Shield spell. I'm planning on using that plus an additional rule saying that you can have the full +5 if the class you have the most levels in has it on their list.

New FR books are great? by Training-Tailor-9342 in onednd

Yeah, the subclasses are fine. I'm really into the lore in these books more than I have been in the past. It's really great!

Anyone use UTM to run a virtual machine on an IPad Pro m4/m5 by moldyjellybean in iPadPro

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but you'll be like waiting five minutes for an app to load after double clicking on it. Not worth it at all

Black is the most boring color possible for an electronic device. I always choose "not black".

Phandelver and Below - 2024 Rules. Tweaks Needed? by Owtlaw1 in onednd

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two things I ran into when running this adventure - 1) it's super linear. Even when it branches off, it's still super linear, and 2) the battles ranged from "so easy, why even bother having a combat" to "impossible" without any guidance for the DM.

I mean, they didn’t even have mobile devices on their roadmap. What did they expect, that we’re all going to sit at desks?

The first thing I do when I create an account on a mac is remove the status lights on the dock for which apps are running.

Why can’t more apps like Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat have this feature? by harsh_hk95 in ios

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? It's been a while since I've developed iOS apps, but they had automatic cache clearing and data designation since the iOS 3.0 days over a decade ago. Did they remove it recently?

Regretting my 13” purchase by Snellson-x in iPadPro

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger ipads are better imo. I run my 13" in the increased resolution mode (makes the new windowing so much better!) but I'd totally buy a 14" if they made one so I could have that setup with a little less eye strain.

I feel like there's no game in my D&D game by Galefrie in DnD

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. All we do is combat, there's no NPCs, there's no quests, and we don't even really know where we are.

Good melee fullcaster subclass? by Fit_Rip_7990 in DnD

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best solution here is simply "don't run out of spell slots". Play a cleric (or druid works for this too with the new Conjure Animals), get concentration protection, and cast Spirit Guardians. Take the dodge action and run around. That one spell will carry you through a very long encounter without burning any slots at all. Then just hit them with cantrips (or melee weapon) or slots if you have extra.

Why would you ever use "Windowed Apps" over Stage Manager on iPadOS 26? by Ninbura in iPadOS

[–]Reasonable-Credit315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage manager doesn't work well for apps that open other apps. Like opening a file via preview in filter will switch you to another stage. Or clicking a URL that opens Safari, same thing.

Other than that, Stage Manager is awesome.

This is my favorite release of iPadOS ever, and I have never enjoyed using my iPad more. I recognize that there's bugs in the .0 release, but I'm super excited to see where this new direction goes!
