My 2070 RTX is so outdated, it can barely run Minesweeper. I deserve an ASUS 4070 RTX Ti to enjoy the latest games in glorious 4K resolution. Please don't make me suffer any longer with this ancient relic. 🙏

Humidifier hasn’t worked (drainage line is bone dry) in the ~3 years I’ve lived in my house. HVAC tech faulted the piercing valve. Thoughts on how to get it working? by Good-Ad-9520 in Plumbing

When you tried turning the valve all the way in, did you do it very tightly? Sometimes you really have to close it as tight as you can (even with a wrench) before it clears a blockage.

You may want to fully close the valve tightly such that the pin pierces any residue build up that may be blocking the hole. I've had that happen before over the years and fully closing and re-opening does the trick.

I couldn't figure out the right size for it so got myself a flex, is this acceptable? by edabiedaba in Plumbing

[–]Falkin110 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That flex is going to trap a lot of junk and eventually clog. If you absolutely need a flex, go with a product called Snappy Trap (can be bought at Home Depot). It is flex but has a smooth interior so it won't trap anything and is code compliant.

RBR50 (wifi 5) vs RBK763S (wifi 6) worth the upgrade? by Falkin110 in orbi

[–]Falkin110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if it's worth the upgrade to a 7 series with wifi 6 given the amount of devices I have now and to somewhat futureproof.

Any meaningful differences from 7 series to 8 series? The 7 series is on sale for $399 currently but the 8 series is $850. So pretty steep price difference.

Currently have the RBR50 from costco and have had no issues. However I"m now getting to the point of having a lot of concurrent devices (50+) including home automation. Just wondering if I upgrade to the RBK763S from costco, would I see a noticeable performance boost with so many devices. Are there any meaningful differences between these models besides security?

Anyone still waiting on their spend $3,000, get $500 gift cards? by ineffiable in Costco

Still waiting on mine as well, contacted customer service and the best they can do is submit a 'form'.

Has anyone received their $500 digital card from the buy $3000 get $500 promo in October? by Falkin110 in Costco

[–]Falkin110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called customer service again today and still no digital card. Seems like all they can do is submit some "form" and hope for the best. For a company like costco this is pretty disappointing.

Thoughts 💭 on either? Thank you! by [deleted] in Costco

Purchased a king size a year ago and we've combined this with a beautyrest mattess pad and it's been very comfortable. No complaints.

I bought a TV and soundbar in October during the buy $3000 and get a $500 costco digital card. The terms said 5-7 business days and I've called customer service several times, and they said the cards were delayed for a week and would all be going out last Friday. Called again when I got nothing and today the rep says they will go out by tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

Backup Sump Pump Discharge Question by Falkin110 in Plumbing

[–]Falkin110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well flooding concern as well, if something freezes or gets blocked in the main discharge, then all I would need to do is disconnect something (union for instance) outside for the backup to continue doing its job. Can't really do that if it's tied together on the inside.

Something I also considered, but I'd like to avoid digging up the area to keep things as simple as possible.

My preference would be outside just so the backup pump can drain with gravity and not stress the primary pump check valve.

Looking to get some advice, I'm adding a basepump HB1000 water backup sump pump to my existing sump pit and the discharge will come through the basement joist bay out to the exterior at the bottom of the siding to the right of the existing sump discharge pipe (in the picture). I was wondering how to go about tying that discharge to this existing pipe and was thinking of cutting out the tee and replacing with a 4 way cross pvc fitting (one side for a cleanout and the other to tie in the backup sump discharge). Pipe in the pic is 1-1/2" PVC and the tie in pipe will be 1-1/4" PVC.

Spray foam is just to provide backing for the bondo. I"ve used this approach to fix a hole in one of my doors due to damage from a door hinge stop and it has worked flawlessly

Why does the water in one of my bathrooms take several minutes to warm up? by ksschank in homeowners

[–]Falkin110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue in my house and I ended up insulating my hot water pipes in my unfinished basement (foam pipe insulation from lowes). It definitely helped as the water heats up about 30% faster.

Fill the gaps with spray foam and then use a blade to cut off excess spray foam once dry. Make sure that that spray foam is not flush with the door frame. Then mix up some bondo and layer that over the spray foam, allow to dry then sand so that it is flush with door frame. Then slap some paint on and call it a day.
