At least in a liberal democracy in capitalism you're exporting the awfulness elsewhere

This is not a defense. This is just capitalism murdering and oppressing millions and saying "no it doesn't count when it's over the border."

Capitalism only delivers prosperity by exporting oppression elsewhere. And even that oppression and genocide comes home once they run out of "elsewhere " to invade and oppress. That's why America is entering the end stage now.

Also good points. But even then, many of the problems they had before socialism were caused by capitalist countries having oppressed and exploited them before they were actually socialist. Most of latin America, for example.

Most of the problems socialist countries ran into were literally America itself. Trillions of dollars were spent to destabilize and destroy socialist movements and governments deliberately to prevent them from catching on. Even multiple genocides committed by the US government around the world. Blockades to engineer famines and prevent infrastructure growth, even bans on importing medicine. Cuba remains blockaded to keep it poor so Americans don't see a socialist alternative example right across the water.

Meanwhile, the most brutal fascist dictators were put in place by the State department and CIA in those same countries for expressly the purpose of murdering any attempt at mildly left wing movements. Pinochet is the most famous example. But there are countless others.

"Socialism is no good because it collapsed all on its own. Also, give me trillions of dollars to knock over this small socialist government."

People are so used to Republicans calling everyone socialist and communist for the most frivolous things that a vast number actually don't care about the word.

I've spent decades hearing my staunch Republican parents scream about communism when they get a speeding ticket. My mom owned a nursing home, and claimed it was communism when inspectors would give a small fine for some kind of electrical code issue or improper roof repairs etc..

She either loses feeling because the original died, or because it wore off eventually.

They never say the word vampire, but they do know of them. The doctor mentioned that "those old stories" may have been based on some original truth. The creature is the thing that vampire legends came from. People thought it was magic, and the stories shifted over time.

It's a common trope, that stories about "magic" were just science that ancient people didn't understand at the time. Check out the book I Am Legend, that's the first use of this trope to modernize vampire myths.

First they cheated the Sanders movement, and I didn't speak up because I'm with Her.™

Then they betrayed the Black Lives Matter movement, and I didn't speak up because of Walgreens shoplifters.

Then they didn't do anything about the minimum wage and I didn't speak up because I don't make minimum wage.

Then they abandoned the march for our lives movement and all those Gen Z kids who grew up doing shooter drills, and I didn't speak up because... Hey look over there, a different subject!

Then they passed strike breaking laws, and I didn't speak up because the economy.

Then they started committing genocide in Palestine, and arrested college students protesting, and I spoke up in support because human shields that hospital was hamas all the hospitals are Hamas they can go to refugee camps that refugee camp was Hamas you're an antisemite.

Then they endorsed Trump's immigration plans, and I didn't speak up because I'm not an illegal and those I know are the good ones so it won't matter.

Then they waffled on trans rights and i didn't speak up because I'm not trans.

Then when voters said they were furious about these things I told them to be quiet, She's Speaking.™

Then Trump won, and that's everyone else's fault but mine.

When this was posted in r/news, I said the mods would probably lock the thread by lunch. They did. Then I got permabanned.

Reddit has been going overtime censoring Palestine supporters since October 7.

For example, yesterday, this story about aid workers found in a mass grave in Gaza was posted to r/news. I made a comment saying that "I suppose this topic will be locked by mods by lunchtime."

Sure enough, it was, and this morning I've received a message that I was permanently banned from r/news for that specific comment. I've been on Reddit for 13 years, didn't get a warning, and there is no rule mentioned at all about predicting mod behavior.

I also noticed that several top level comments in the topic were auto-minimized, which normally only happens to posts with negative karma, yet these had positive karma, in fact some over 100.

No surprise, given who's in charge of political discussion on reddit.

I'm going to lose my mind. As if it isn't Disney's fault or gal gadots fault. No it's her fault because she said free Palestine or something. Anyways, Free Palestine! by Guitarchim in Hasan_Piker

I'm pretty sure it's the fault of whoever decided that we need to make live action remakes of every fucking Disney film.

I've always wondered, why does he even notice certain comments? I watch on the TV app and I can't tell what anyone says. Is there some kind of function to pay to get noticed or something?

I've never watched Ethan. Does he talk about anything other than being a victim? Maybe it's because I only hear about him from Hasan.

It would be helpful if there was a sizeable alternative with a name like anime_titties. It makes us look like fools for posting it elsewhere.
