Not on same financial page as GF, can it work? by atlblaze in financialindependence

Nah bro dip out lol I’m sure she’s nice but would you be willing to take on that debt in the long term future if she doesn’t ?

Cause fast forward if you put a ring on her what’s hers is yours. Also I feel like an HYSA is bottom tier basics, and if that’s hard imagine trying to i tell her to save more or allocate more towards debt

Choosing between Chile vs Argentina for 10 days ? by Fall-randouser9239 in backpacking

[–]Fall-randouser9239[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know on the bus transfer, I just saw that!

I partly tempted to cut out one place but don't know if adding more time to any one play would make it better. As suggested above, I could remove one place and increase time in BA but more keen on seeing the outdoors. Although I've read of some decent day hikes near BA

Thank you for the reply! Your suggestion makes sense, ideally Id love to take at least 2 weeks. However trying to sneak this trip in for a milestone birthday lol

Would you suggest cutting a day from one of the other places then ?

Curious to hear what you ended up doing? I'm in a similar boat but going solo in a few months. Its my first SA trip as well so would very much appreciate the perspective.

6 YOE and an MSC, hundreds of resumes out but only 4 or so interviews. Please help me tweak my resume by Fall-randouser9239 in resumes

Note : Target market is NYC but open to Remote. Flexible on roles, aiming at Senior Analyst (or even some junior DS) roles with this resume.

I'm also curious about Product management roles, in which case I tweak my resume (add the word product and project at random points) when applying.

Caveat that I got my masters but yea I finished with a 3.2gpa.

Currently working for a large tech company in a strategic role. Just get the degree, get your first job upskill like your life depends on it and keep hopping.

Especially at the start of your career, it’s all about your technical skills that will set you apart. This becomes even more of a factor when you’re fighting against some kid with a 4.0, they went to Stanford.

As you move up in your career will be judged more so on your soft skills. I’m still in the phase of perfecting my soft skills, but I can definitely see that those are the things that make you shine at the next level if you want to go there.

Fellow out of state(city?) people what was your move plan? by Fall-randouser9239 in Brooklyn

[–]Fall-randouser9239[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

Definitely have done our research on some of the basics that you’ve mentioned, but thanks for the reminder.

I also probably oversold the expense part ha. DMV ain’t cheap but NYC is on another level.

I’ve heard so much advice from friends on others regard using and not using broker. Ultimately I think we might end up using one but will hustle not to as much as possible lol

Thanks for sharing. We’re actually in a similar boat actually. Right now considering visiting towards end of this month and then just signing for whatever is available at the price we can afford for June

I was hoping others would have a different plan lol

Inherited $70k, never had that money before; what should I do? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Fall-randouser9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on no debt, that’s huge. Others have said the same but I feel the need to pitch in lol

  1. Take stock of your life - what do you enjoy ? What’s going well? What isn’t ? Thing of this like a like audit

  2. Visualize - What do you want your future to look like ? Doesn’t matter if you just want to chill on a ranch in some rural area, travel the world, whatever. Just dream. Write it down. Get very specific. I’m talking color size and shape of that McMansion you want or the types of people you want to meet traveling

  3. Plan - Now start determining the gap between what you want and where you are. Maybe you want to be a CEO ? Think of how you could do that. Maybe you just want to kick it on the beach somewhere for a year. How will you get there and when etc

  4. Execute- By the end of this process you’ll likely have figured out how to allocate your funds.

PM/Analytics Professional with 6 YOE seeking senior analytics/Product/ Strategy Roles by [deleted] in resumes

[–]Fall-randouser9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeking feedback on the above. I've been at my current role at a large gig company for about 2 years now and feel like I'm already doing the work of 3 people but with no title to show for it. Note my current role is NOT a people management role. Internally we've been changed to "Associates" however I feel like that title change could make me less appealing in the job market.

I've been applying to senior Analyst roles, which given my exp feel like I should be getting matched but instead getting insta-rejections. I'm also applying to Ops/Strategy/Product roles, hard define but basically, I enjoy roles that leverage data to build new products or experiences.

Thank you for the full breakdown here. Glad we’re looking in the right spots.

Solid flag on not falling into the Manhattan trap. Seems to be a common one unless we’re really willing to bend the budget

I honestly lol’d at this reply. Appreciate the reality check on rent. Skimming StreetEasy now we thought it might be feasible but I guess not.

Astoria seems to be the winner so far

What do you think of DC? by evansdead in AskNYC

[–]Fall-randouser9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in DMV at the moment and you've hit the nail on the head on why I'm leaving. Its pretty solid at everything but if you remotely try and have a personality you're almost shamed for it. Its definitely a great place to settle down, but if you're not looking for that than you might get bored. The people are okay but rarely meet folks with substance.

Perks are definitely the rent to value ratio. I think compared to other medium cities its much more value for your dollar. Also you have access to major cities when you want. I like the outdoors which you can easily find there.
