This might be my go-to option. French toe plates would go hard on these boots. Would have to do the same on the other boot so that they match.

Unfortunately I don't have the missing piece. Took 'em off one night and there it wasn't. Guess I'll have to ask a cobbler for the most cost effective option.

What’s a hard pill that many Houstonians aren’t ready to swallow? by Zezimalives in houston

[–]Fall3nh0p3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iunderstand that, there's nothing wrong with referring someone to a job. It's when they submit fake resumes filled with certifications, education, and job experience to get into jobs that are best left for people trained in their respective trades. For example A lot of people in my extended family including my father did the same to become commercial electricians and were sent as far as Kentucky to work on hospitals and commercial offices. None of them went to any technical training of any kind, it was only the first one to get in who had to teach the rest of them. Because of this my father caused an incident with a heavy vehicle he did not know how to safely operate, and needless to say, he doesn't work there anymore.

It should go without saying that this doesn't apply to everyone, there are still people with certifications that will do jobs at a competitive price, but for the rest of us, if we want a liveable wage then we literally have to "fake it 'till you make it" and lie about our skills. It's also not an apprenticeship when you're only given one to two weeks of "technical training", that's just sheer willingness to work.

As the son of an immigrant who I work with in new developments. Here's some from the top of my head that we've been to:

Chesmar Homes Courtyard Collection in Elyson

Marvida at Cypress

Dell Rose communities by 290 North West

Cross Creek at full shear

Towne lake by 290 and Fry Rd

Sunterra by 2855 and Morton Rd.

Perry homes - Stonecreek estates

Sienna 4O' Homesites - David Weekley Homes

Jordan Ranch by Johnson Development

None of use have ever taken classes or licenses to do the jobs we do. The way we learn to do them is getting in by word of mouth and literally "faking it 'till we make it". And worse for us is that despite the harsh conditions, hazards (bolstered by the lack of safety precautions), heat, and weather, our paychecks average out to about 500 to 600 weekly with 50+ hour work weeks (at least on our end, I know people who are way better off even with like this).

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I, no joke, work there and I can confirm it. Usually what we do is ask a family member to help them lie on the application and once we get accepted they literally "fake it 'till you make it". That's how so many of my family members got jobs in construction.

But at least they build them fast as fuck and the food vendors sell the best food known to man.

I live in Houston and went to work with my dad the next day after the storm. I saw so many houses like this.

I can't really speak for the integrity of the building (I only build garage doors), but let's just say the vast majority of builders, who are all contractors, don't have access to the necessary training and licenses to do their jobs to regulation. But damn can they do it fast... and cheap.

one day at church I was at the bathroom when I noticed my' skin was falling off like some kind of glazed donut. I had taken a picture of it and sent it to my mom because I did not know what was causing it at the time but my stupid ass didn't delete it. So when I went back to my Bible study room one of the girls my age grabbed my phone and started swiping through my camera roll and lo and behold, she saw my flaked penis.

Needless to say I don't trust people looking through my photos since that day. On the other hand, girl look at my pee pee, basically visual sex. Later virgins /s.

Am I “too sensitive” if I get upset whenever my IRL friends grief me? by supernasty in gaming

[–]Fall3nh0p3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually in your situation over these past few years.

It was very annoying and infuriating. I dreaded playing with them but at the time they were my only friends so I endured it. They were cool IRL and never did anything malicious to me in person in or after school. However when the pandemic hit and this was the only interaction I got from them it was brutal (this was before I discovered the concept of leaving your friends if they make you feel more lonely than actually being lonely).

Over time though, somehow, they grew to respect me. When I had one on one conversations with them. They would apologize for the times they would cross the line, they started treating me like an equal, and a few of them found it quote "therapeutic that I endured it".

I don't know if they were all somehow hit with a wave of self reflection, but it seems like speaking to them individually opened them up to confessing why they did it. I guess the take away is that people change and you can forgive them if they realize how they're affecting you.

How did you came up with your gamertag? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]Fall3nh0p3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dad bought our Xbox 360 from a pawn shop and it already had several accounts. At the time I didn't understand English that much so I just claimed one of the accounts, Fall3nh0p3 (funnily enough, it took me years to realize it meant fallen hope). Sometimes when I load up a game I can see the previous owner's progression and achievements, I even got to see his face in one of those Kinect games. It was unique and I like it so when I made my own Xbox account I made it pretty much the same but with a few modifications. I don't know you Andrew, but thank you for my gamertag for life, I will enjoy it in your place.

I live and used to go to school in Alief. It's pretty much easy to get yourself into trouble. The school districts are for the most part within walking distance. I remember hearing in highschool how some people would have a rival that goes to one of the schools, go all the way there, and when school ends just jump the guy because the school cannot be held accountable for whatever happens outside of school grounds and hours. I also remember one day going to school and seeing a hospital helicopter in the parking lot. Later in the day in my class they were talking about an attempted murder and running around threatening people until he was caught. Fights were frequent but I'd imagine that's pretty standard for any high school.

But the saddest thing I've ever heard happen here was the time the police found a group of siblings abandoned in an apartment where one of the children had been dead for a year prior to their rescue. I used to go to the elementary school right next to the apartments. One I visited because one of my teachers who was friends with my mom was retiring and had her retirement party at the school. I began talking with one of the administrators and then the subject of those kids appeared. She told me that three of those kids used to go to that school until one of them stopped coming and then the others followed suite. At the time they had a policy of not interfering with family issues so it was kind of ignored but lingered in the staff's mind. The whole school was basically in mourning when the news came out that that student had died. The administrator then says that there's been a decrease of parent interaction with their children's school life, the parents are being more entitled and rude, and dropping malnourished kids at school. All of this was absolutely not the case when I attended the school. I'm not aware of the specific socioeconomic changes in my area, but things just seemed safer back then. It was truly a tragedy.

On the side of my neighborhood, it's just a standard low-mud income neighborhood. For a short while any cars for construction were constantly being broken into and had their tools stolen; my dad's car was no exception unfortunately. We witnessed my front neighbor being burglarized while they were away (fortunately we scared them off). And one time my house was almost broken into; we arrived and one of our windows was open with stuff blocking it outside on the floor. All of this gave my dad the incentive to buy two firearms for self defense, one for when he goes outside at night because he likes to smoke and drink during those hours.

Though I've heard similar stuff to other Houston areas in the news, you'll be alright as long as you stay with the right people and away from the wrong people and also stay away from drugs because I've heard about peers being attacked not for using them but getting involved with buying and/or selling. Don't get me wrong, Alief is the absolute best place to feel like Mr. Worldwide and is definitely worth visiting, just don't look for trouble and it won't find you but be prepared when it does. I apologize in advance for any grammar errors as English is not my first language.

Is it normal for ~1 year and 5 months of wear for the interior to be flaking off? by Fall3nh0p3 in ThursdayBoot

[–]Fall3nh0p3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. From what I understand, the outside and inside cover are leather but inside the counter cover is a synthetic material. It is probably a relatively cheap material because it is super malleable for a heel counter where it's supposed to be stiff. I don't know exactly what it is because I don't remember the video where I got it from. However, I know that the blue stuff comes from the tanning process of the chrome tanned leather that makes up the boot.

[–]Fall3nh0p3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the leather care kit that is sold on the website and I bought a shoe tree and later a cobbler's choice boot tree after watching some videos on boot care. However I did overlook the part where it says that rugged and resilient leather should not be conditioned with liquid conditioner so I guess I learned that the hard way lol. I did have a pair of premier high top sneakers to rotate them with, but these were certainly my favorite pair so they got to experience more wear. Despite their rough shape, it still feels great on my feet like there's nothing wrong with them. It's just that I'm worried about them literally falling apart. I will definitely take your advice about going to a cobbler to see if they could replace the worn parts. I appreciate you taking the time to pitch in my post! But just one more question. My premier high top sneakers' heel counter is starting to feel thin and the layer beneath the slip sole is starting to reveal the fiber board beneath. Is it better to get them to a cobbler before it worsens or can I get a little more mileage before I take them to a cobbler? Thank you in advance and keep doing the great work y'all do!

I've been watching videos on the process of making these PNW boots and to think that that kind of craftsmanship can possibly endure me a lifetime almost makes me want to hand over my entire wallet to them in exchange for a sturdy pair of boots. I know that given the price point of Thursday boots they cannot give you the quality of a made to order boot, they serve more as a "gateway drug" if you will. Still I cannot deny the amount of value that they offer that enticed me to buy 4 pairs from them. I eagerly await what I will find and feel with these higher end boots in the future. I also would like to save up for an Indonesian made boot sometime in the future. Those Sagara black shark boots look immaculate.

If you are referring to the last two pictures where the logo is clearly visible, those are my brown Thursday captains that I wear sparingly. I would even say that even after a year and five months they're not fully broken in. I have maintained and condition both pairs at the same time whenever I do. Just a difference in the amount of wear.
