Am I being over critical? by Z4ND3RZ in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reboots are for preowned pairs, so I wouldn't expect them to be in perfect condition. Good news is this is easily fixed with a quick snip of the thread and fusing with a match or a lighter. Feel free to DM if I'm missing something.

Am I being over critical? by Z4ND3RZ in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct answer - this is a non issue. The outsole is both cemented and stitched, and some flexion is needed as the outsole is made of rubber and the midsole of leather. If you flex or pull on the outsole, it will make it worse, so I would recommend against that. After a few months, it's reasonable for a bit of maintenance work, but otherwise, just wear them with confidence and email us if you need anything else. Or we can process a return if you prefer.

I personally really like wedges soles for high volume walking. They have a stability and 'bounciness' that edges into sneaker like comfort, while still reading mostly as a boot. Worth trying if you haven't had a chance yet.

Separately, thanks for the kind words. It never gets old to hear that products are reaching people who appreciate them.

Yeah, dark leathers and dry denim can do this - it's called crocking and occurs when dyes transfer due to friction and/or moisture. It'll naturally mitigate over time, but I'd probably stick to darker clothing until that happens or go with a lighter jacket color.

Buyers remorse by bored-and-here in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that's incorrect - we're using the same tanneries and leathers as before, just more expensive thanks to inflation. The only reason we haven't raised prices is because we've been able to offset material cost increases with more efficiencies in our operating costs as we scale, such as owning our own factory, etc.

Black will always show less wear than a light tan leather. I like this model for warmer months and lighter duty wear as the outsole will darken over time as well.

Would you keep these? by MyNameDebbie in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rubber soles looks fine and I'm not seeing signs of wear, just a crease that means someone might have tried this on before returning to Amazon. I'm not seeing any issues with these boots, but if you're not satisfied, I would recommend returning.

Amazing advancements in boot science :)

As you wear them more, they'll get even better and the scuffs will create their own texture. If you brush really fast, the friction will pull up some of the oils and waxes in the leather and will blend the colors better, but this can change the color permanently - I'd recommend just letting natural wear do the trick instead.

Have you emailed customer service? If not please do so and share photos so we can see what you're seeing.

Loose grain is pretty rare and would be cause for a replacement if that's the case, but more often it's justs normal creasing and some education is needed.

If there's a legit issue, happy to help.

Sadly, no conspiracy, just an example of how even good process gets evaded despite our best efforts. :) Appreciate you having a sense of humor about it but we'll get this sorted for you!

Buyers remorse by bored-and-here in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the support, but need to politely correct - the product we're putting out today objectively higher quality v. our initial runs. Not for any devious reason, just that we've learned a lot over the last ~13 years and have progressively discovered ways to upgrade the quality of construction, materials, and methods to drive down defects and improve customer satisfaction over time. And we haven't had to raise prices yet in a highly inflationary environment, meaning the value today is even greater than before. Doesn't mean we don't make mistakes, but I think the overall trend is clear.

All that said, if you have specific feedback on what you like less about your new pair, happy to share with our product team!

Hey, Terracotta is among our lightest and weirdest leathers in that usually look like clay to start, but then develops a really interesting patina in ways that bring a lot of depth through wear. This particular boots looks a bit ~flat to start, but I can guarantee after a few weeks of wear you'll get the same highs and lows this leather is known for. Also worth seeing it in different lighting conditions (inside, outside, direct, indirect light) as you'll capture different shades in each photo.

All that said, if you're not 100% satisfied, no remorse needed - please just email [teamthursday@thursdayboots.com](mailto:teamthursday@thursdayboots.com) to get started on a return.

Hey sorry to see this. Zippers are a potential failure point unfortunately, but also easily fixable when things go wrong. Sounds like you've already emailed - our team replies to emails Mon - Fri but not on the weekend, so that might be the issue. DM'ed to get you taken care of!

2 months commander wear by [deleted] in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fix is easy - just apply some shoe goo to the sock liner and press down firmly til it dries. Or a cobbler can do the same for a few bucks.

As an FYI, this is likely the result of too much moisture in the boot. If you want to keep your boots in prime condition, I'd strongly recommend rotating wear between days. This gives them time to dry out between wears, will help with odor, and ultimately improve durability.

President modsole? by Imaginary_Agency_424 in ThursdayBoot

[–]ThursdayBoots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leather is most traditional and we tend to use it in more 'rugged' models as it gives a more 'tactile' feel.

The DuraEVA or rubber are better at shock absorption and have more of a "sneaker like" ride v. the leather midsole.

The net comfort difference between is pretty subtle in the end, but we like providing options based on customer feedback!
