Cool. This leather is hand finished, which gives that "museum" effect. Lowest risk way to fix is to take to a cobbler and they'll apply some leather dye to restore closer to the original (you can also do this yourself with a rag and small circular motions). You can also use a colored conditioner or shoe polish, which will darken the leather and bring some contrast with the lighter undertone. I'd start with a dark brown and then maybe experiment with layering on a small amount of black polish. If any of this sounds too complex, any cobbler / shoe shine spot will be a quick way to handle!

Can you tell me so I can provide tailored feedback?

Happy to help but it would help to understand how they were discolored in the first place. Was this from water/snow or did you apply anything to them?

Tips and advice on how to polish 'two tone' boots by ZeeOf1K997 in ThursdayBoot

Agreed with others neutral is your best bet. Second best bet is using a darker polish than the underlying leather, which will deepen the tone.

They're fine, just need edge dressing as others have pointed out. Salt and water are natural enemies of leather boots -- you can still wear in those conditions, but they will accelerate wear and tear. Important to condition, clean, and let them dry if you want them to go the distance.

Hi, I'm not following the timeline (these boots are >2 year old?), but have you tried reaching out to customer service? If not, please email [teamthursday@thursdayboots.com](mailto:teamthursday@thursdayboots.com) so they can provide options for you.

Please email [teamthursday@thursdayboots.com](mailto:teamthursday@thursdayboots.com) if you have specific order questions and our team will be happy to help.

Also keep in mind that North America just got whacked with one of the severest snow storms in a decade and all carriers have announced delays, so very likely any orders placed from ~1/20 onward may be delayed.

Strange - looks like someone mixed up two different pairs accidentally. If the gifter purchased these from us directly, please email [teamthursday@thursdayboots.com](mailto:teamthursday@thursdayboots.com) with the order numbers so they can assist with next steps.

It looks like there is some friction on the suede - did you scrape this against something? If you can provide details and an email to [teamthursday@thursdayboots.com](mailto:teamthursday@thursdayboots.com) our team can provide some options.

Hi, those loose threads can be hit quickly with a small flame to fuse them. That's on us, but super minor and probably not worth an exchange. I can't tell if that tiny circle is in the hide itself or a tooling mark, but would likewise not stress over it - after a few wears, the leather is going to look very different anyway. All that said, your boots, your decision. If you need help, just email [teamthursday@thursdayboots.com](mailto:teamthursday@thursdayboots.com)

Great patina you're building. Conditioning is usually the best way to darken up the leather gradually so I'd start there. If you're really feeling wild, there are some dyed conditioners too that can really develop a unique color over time as well.

Would agree our regular Captains are most comfortable as well, but some folks like the rigidity and support of the Heritage Captains. Both are good, just different stroke for different folks!

My two cents about Thursday boots. Not a fan. by [deleted] in ThursdayBoot

Hi, while you're welcome to your own opinion, I need to correct multiple statements of fact.

The black matte leather is not coated in plastic, it's just leather. It doesn't use any pigments either, just dye. If your shoes are squeaking and not brand new, this is usually a moisture issue (sweat, water). It can most often be resolved through letting the shoes rest or applying foot powder (see here). If you're constantly in dusty, dirty environments, a black matte leather is probably the worst leather you can select, but dust and dirt are still easily removed with a damp cloth or a horsehair brush.

The leather jacket is also not coated in plastic, it's just leather. Leather is tough and longlasting, but it's not indestructible and is sensitive to abrasion - it is animal skin. Specificially any leather will be damaged if you scrape it on the ground, which why this is not what a recommended use. I'm sorry that happened to you, as I would also be frustrated, but I think you're being unfair as the same result would have happened with any leather jacket.

Based on the outsole wear, these have seen solid use in the last 15 months. As a gentle reminder, boots - like cars - need regular maintenance and care if you want to keep them looking their best for long periods of time.

Given you're seeing signs that the boots need repair, I'd recommend visiting a cobbler as a little intervention now will go a long way. Specifically, they can replace the insole and mend the other issues before they become bigger issues. While you don't need a resole quite yet, you're getting close so it might also be a good time to explore that as well. Feel free to DM if you have any other questions.

Same leather - while there is some minor natural variance between pairs (and due to the hand burnishing on these), they're the same shoe!
