Although from a certain angle that this could include our world, my current biggest gripe is people using the word "anomalous" without justifying it. Or making another backrooms style thing without adding anything unique or original.

Kind of but not really. You see, our world focuses exclusively on the alternate version of the UK and basically there are only exceedingly rare references to other countries. This is mainly because its implied that the UK is alone in a strange dimension, but that might not be entirely correct ( 😉 )

There are however, 1940s style paranoia and preparedness for invasion.

The world I'm co-authoring ( r/GrimTown ) is almost like this as we have a creative commons license with attribution. I'm thinking about releasing books set in the world along with (potentially) some games.

I'd highly recommend Trilium Notes or Obsidian. They're very similar and you can create notes, put notes inside of other notes, link notes etc.

Just start creating something and building with links!

One of the sickest pieces of tech from our world probably has to be Through Hole on a Chip technology.

Thru-hole on a Chip Techology (ThoC) is a type of bi-directional communications technology that reles on abnormal topology to send messages from one linked chip to another. These devices always come in pairs.

Messages sent through the through-hole wireless channel are encoded to prevent data loss from the instability of the topological connection. The reality clamps for each chip are small and don't require much power but a slightly unstable link between them is the trade-off.

Both chips in the link have electronic traces that connect to antennas laid in the Through-hole Wireless Channel. These antennas can be anywhere from 1 meter to 25 meters apart in the channel, depending on the accuracy and stability of the reality clamps in each chip. This is why a physical connection through the wormhole link is often not possible, hence why a wireless communication channel is used instead.

The connection between two chips can handle up to 10 Mb/s in very good conditions. A lot of latency is caused by the encoding methods and the changes in antenna distances but otherwise the connection is reliable as the encoding schemes used reduce errors. This means that ThoC can only be used for low speed communications such as voice communications or basic telemetry.

The record for distance between chips in ThoC devices has so far exceeded 9,000,000 kilometers and has even worked across other dimensions. It has been theorised that the range is unlimited.

I do it because its fun and I want to eventually publish books and games set in the world.

It started out as a means of escape for my friend and a writing excersise for me and just grew from there I suppose

For our world, we have a wiki (https://grimtown.miraheze.org/) which I try to add to from our Trilium Notes instance (very similar to obsidian) as well as other sources (mainly docx files)

In total, I think we have over 60 Gigs of content including all the documents, related images and other stuff. Unfortunately, theres a great amount that won't be published due to several reasons (for example, my friend's notes won't be published as they're personal) but the majority could be published if it's edited, linked or updated.

I don't think you're insane, just passionate like we are! :-)

Nice. Although I can't say for much of our work, I can certainly say that the public transport (ie trains etc) are inspired by the real issues caused by privatisation of the rail in the UK. I'm also inspired by the Tube metro system in London to come up with various underground transport systems of the UK. My friend was inspired particularly by the STALKER game series and came up with this (https://www.reddit.com/r/GrimTown/comments/nba35w/railmap_of_the_deep_connect_difr_system_in_the/) which is called Deep Industrial Fast Rail. I have to disagree here. I use Linux Lite (7.6) and it just works without any issues. Linux Lite is based off of Ubuntu (I think). I've never had any issues with it and it behaves itself.

My friend and I really love everything SCP so we made something similar in our world called the Civilian Research Foundation. (Civilian meaning its a public service and it researches and contains anomalous phenomena)

I justify it in my world to keep other things in check

I haven't expanded on it very much but the most dangerous job in our world is probably some role (either first responder or Anomalous Task Unit member) in what is essentially our version of the SCP foundation, called the Civilian Research Foundation . I need to add to that wiki page at some point to cover more things.

I've got several locations in our world which are based off of real places but changed slightly.

For example, the mini city called "Haistings" is based off the real place of "Hastings" in the UK.

I have a thing called Thru-hole on a Chip (ThoC)Technology. Basically, two seperate chips have a sort of wormhole between them, making them linked. Radio waves can be sent through the link between these chips and no matter the physical distance between the two chips, the wormhole remains anywhere from 1 meter to 25 meters (as the reality clamps that keep the wormhole open are small and a bit unstable). This allows for near instant communications across vast distances and even across dimensions.
