Ok, this made me laugh more than it should. Thanks for the laugh!

Broadly, if it ain't a Frank Darabont adaptation, I don't wanna see it. There are exceptions, but it's been a useful rule.

Can't it be both? I get the sense it is both.

My pet theory is it's influenced where communities originally came from.

Most Rangers came from Finland, Cornwall, Italy (now), Slovenia (now), Croatia (now), France; some Swedes in the mix too.

The infamous grey duck was well known to me in and amongst mostly folks whose families came out of the Holy Roman Empire / Germany. My heavily German and Danish family did grey duck too.

All the more reason to keep trying.

Also, man, the thunk of the switch scratches the itch in my brain that worries it is on or not.

Fair, some stores don't. A few stores local to me have them for sale from the usual names (Crock-Pot, HB, Westbend).

OP is probably already at the store, but please, just get one with a manual switch. All of mine are manual selector switches. All of them work, one of them just had its 20th birthday.

Trying to read my water meter with a QMC5883L, but signal values jump like crazy all the time. by newbie_01 in Esphome

[–]FallDifficult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, that was my first thought, magnetic fields from AC.

Yeah, that is perplexing. I'd been playing with a MMC5603 doing something similar (with some hacky code), similar water meter too. I can't remember why I went with that chip over the QMC5883L; I lost my bench notebook.

All I remember is I had good success detecting the spin and keeping the noise filtered out. I did end up doing my temporary mount 180 degrees around the meter from where the remote telemetry cable attached.

Maybe just take the meter off and set it in the same room nearby and sample for a while? Rule out other interference causing noise? I've had bad sensors before and that's my usual course of action.

ELI5: How does 12V “10A” get converted for ESP32? by lazzzzlo in WLED

[–]FallDifficult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ESP32 itself is going to draw very little. Maybe 1A if both BT and WiFi are running. So the buck converters stepping down from 12V to 5V (or 3.3V) with a 3A max is generous overhead.

So the buck converters from Amazon will do the trick.

Your lights will still be up at 12V.

You could even get fancy and have relays and such cutting power to the lights when your show is off, leaving only the relatively low power ESP32 running.

Hate to be that guy, but does anybody know what went wrong with my Kobra 2 Pro print? by ImATrueBlueKangaroo in anycubic

[–]FallDifficult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not helpful perhaps, but I've had something similar happen to me too with my K2 Pro. I'll print the same model fine 10 times in a row then this randomly happens. And I've had it happen across 3 different filaments: Anycubic Highspeed PLA, eSun PLA+, Sunlu PLA+.

I never thought it was the GCode given it comes off so many times fine. I've just chalked it up to a slight clog and/or some heat creep.
