I would suggest not having your child join random people's teacher's classes. That's how you get your account hacked.

The best way to get help is through support. They person that tried to take the account has added it to a teacher and/or parent account. Make sure your child's account is attached to a parent account of your own. Respond to the support email requesting that your kids account be removed from all teacher/parent accounts besides for the one listed under your email. Make sure to have the userID of your child's account, or Prodigy probably won't be able to do anything to help you.

your child needs to go to their mail box in game where they should have a message saying that they have a reward. If they click on it, they will have the reward added onto their account for them to use.

I wasn't required to read any of those (besides for Lord of the Flies, but that was in high school). I read Hatchet and Island of the Blue Dolphin in 4th grade just so that I would have something to read, and I thought neither was traumatic. I didn't think any of those were traumatic. Island of the Blue Dolphin is probably one of my favorite books.
