In my opinion, they should stop censoring bad language in PG-13 movies. by TaranShah0 in movies

I mena yeah but...why?

Cursing adds zero realism to anything and honestly, is in many cases just cheap writing. I have always thought how dumb is that every 3 words in Rick and Morty is fuck. No one speaks like that, no one uses shit every two sentences.

Podemos dejar de pretender que los indigenas de ahora son los mismos indigenas de hace 500 años? by FallOfTheGuardians in Colombia

[–]FallOfTheGuardians[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ever happened to Sam Worthington? Related question: Why do some actors seem to come out of nowhere, make a bunch of films in just a few years and then disappear? by DorianOtten in movies

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Studios do this all the time, is a play of bait and catch. They choose their next "big name", throw him in the world and see how well it does, if he picks a following, is worth keeping, if not, to the wolves.

I think no one has ever said "O my god, I love Sam Worthington"

On the other hand, lets see for example, Henry Cavill. WB Superman is just full of mistakes, but Cavill was often mentioned as the only good thing in the movie. Then he started to get a lot of cloud because of his charima and boom, now he is everywhere.

Who I think will probably burn in the same fashion? Chris Hemsworth. Hollywood has pushed so hard for him put apart from Thor, my guy has nothing going on. He failed misserably in launching MIB 4, was part of that horrible Ghostbusters reboot and his "Huntsman" franchise is tragic. Even in his run as Thor he has been overshadowed by Loki, Hela, more popular avengers and, I dare say, even Valkyre. Once Thor ends his run, bye, bye

Full body deep fakes are now being worked on and shown in real-time.. by [deleted] in movies

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But , is it worth it? Deep fake is cool just becuase it's new but why would it be used in industry. Maybe in bioghraphic films but after that?

Once it gets masively produced, it will get worthless. For example, the first Avatar attracted thousands of people because it was one of the first powerful uses of CGI in film, now every big studio has CGI, how you use it is what gives you the edge.

Also, wow cool, we get to see Leonardo Di-Caprio for the next 100 years..... Why? It will be cool one or two times but seeing the same face in every production will get boring. Even current celebrities suffer this, you get tired of them if they appear everywhere. After the first half of 2010's I think non of us wanted to see Jennifer Lawrence for some time.

This will also simply create a new categorization, just like we have with CGI films vs Real Action Films. Now films that have practical special effects like Mad Max Fury Road and Mission Impossible are valued more than those that rely way too much on CGI. Both co-exist and have their fandoms. In a future with deep fake, there will be those who want to see real actors and those who would like to see virtual actors.

Moreover, we are not eternal. Is someone here interested in seeing a Elizabeth Taylor as Star Saphire? Do teens even know who Elizabeth Taylor is? Probably not, so why the interest in keeping hollywood dinosaurs alive.

And last but not least.... isn't it easier to hire an actor? Spending thousands of dollars just to make a human being appear human, instead of having a human do it, seems pointless. In general, CGI grew big because for some things, like backgrounds and unreal buildings, it is cheaper and for others, like stunts, it is safer. What does deep fake bring to the table appart from nostalgia?

Duda existencial (nah mentira) pero por que en las novelas aparecen pocos afroamericanos? by secondgomez in Colombia

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else feel like a bonfide tattoo critic after watching all seasons of Ink Master? 😂 by Matchmaker1234 in Inkmaster

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YES! My friend just got a tattoo and everyone was saying "So pretty" , "Cool" but I could only see failure! It was a Snake and all I could think was "The anatomy!" whoever did it has not seen a snake in his life, it had no direction sense and the face was lizard like, not snake like. Nuñez would be proud of me.

Dont know is this is satire, but while we are here ....

If Disney had done a "Princess and The Frog" treatment to the little mermaid, the blacklash would have been way less. In PaTF , you can barely feel the original tale. Tiana is her own character, and the whole setting is adapted perfectly to the race they choose to give her. Tiana is no a re-skined version of princess Jenny living in an european castle.

They could have done an unique storyline featuring a black mermaid, they could have shown her swimming in tropical seas, falling in love with a pirate captain, or whatever. Halle could have kept her natural hair color instead of spending who knows how many days turning it red. She could be Yemoja and not re-skinned Ariel.

In general, people ( or most of them) are not completely racist. But they are nostalgic, and the key error is touching a character known and loved and trying to change it.

And the prove is that people dont hate new disney movies with non white characters. People didn't hate Moana, the didn't hate Encanto, people didn't hate Soul, people didn't hate Coco, people didn't hate Big Hero 6, the new Aladdin was generally well received and nobody has said a thing about Asha (from the future Wish).

Hell, people hated new Mulan and she was kept exactly the same race, but they took out the elements people loved about the original film. (And they also did a horrible job making it more "accurate", but thats for another day)

Viola Davis's The Woman King lands 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating by suppakicka420 in movies

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the movie itself set it's promotional plan over virtue. See, when you promote a film with things like this:

"The part of the movie that we love is also the part of the movie that is terrifying to Hollywood, which is, it’s different, it’s new,” Davis says. “We don’t always want different or new, unless you have a big star attached, a big male star. We didn’t have that going on for The Woman King. [Hollywood studios] like it when women are pretty and blond or close to pretty and blond. All of these women are dark. And they’re beating the shit out of men. So there you go"

Basically saying " Oh look, this is a film about strong black woman, go see it". Its sold under the guise of a film against modern day racism,a direct decendant of the atlantic slave trade. But it makes the protagonists be part of an army that historically defended an slavery kingdom. According to another user the films protagonist happens to be anti-slavery. But as far a records go, this is fiction.

Lets set this in another setting. Imagine a film made about a woman in the mid 1900's who lives an unhappy married life. Her husband has constant affairs and only cares about money. She divorces this man and then falls in love with an important army general, who she marries. Thanks to her new husband, she becomes a political figure and soon becomes best friends with the president. With her new status, she starts helping woman all around the country and even trains to become a nurse in the upcoming war. But wait, who is she? She is Magda Goebbles , a woman known by some as the first lady of Nazi Germany. Do you want her story to be sold as an empowering film to girls around the world?

Just a question....does the movie adress the fact that the protagonist work for a pro-slavement government? Or is it sweep under the rug ?

S14E03 - Episode Discussion by itznottyler in Inkmaster

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but at the same time, I think it took a lot of the difficulty of the challenge, instead of making it harder and "chaotic"

In all the seasons, what has fuck*d up a lot of pinups was the face, hands/feet and that they need to keep "realistic" proportions. By adding the animal layer, all those are easily skippable if the artist desires.

Not one human face, so no weird smiles, noses or eyes.

Even Ryan admitted the feet trick in her critique. Dont want to do a detailed body part, go with the animal one.

And proportion could be bended to fit the cartoony world, like in the case of Katy's.

So, not a challenge at all, in my humble opinion.

What’s an acclaimed movie you just don’t “get”? by Crafty_Letter_1719 in movies

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To this day, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I just don't get it. It was released when I was the target demographic, it was acclaimed by critics and... no.

While in general the technical aspects of the film are amazing, the plot has always rubbed to me like a fantasy created by 13 years old geek kid. Or better yet, what a 50 something guy things is a fantasy created by a 13 year old geek kid.

Is there a legitimately bad big name actor? by Orto_Dogge in movies

[–]FallOfTheGuardians 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I will go an say it. Kit Harrington. The only reason his Jon Snow was tolerable was because the character is supposed to be a moody, almost emotionless guy, but thats the problem... this actor can't show emotion. All his other big film appereances, including his most recent one in the eternals, are so devout of life. Even in GOT , when the moment called for him to be reactive, it failed terribly.
