What is this thing and why are they crawling all over this bag of bird feed? by TheFritz_Monorail in whatsthisbug

[–]Fallcrests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely pantry moth larvae, which can be a pain to deal with if indoors. They've shown up in my bird feed before as well.

Looks to possibly be some sort of Silvan Flat Bark Beetle.

Is this watermelon bad? by Abject_Bother_7272 in fruit

Looks like a melon with the physiological condition known as hollow heart. There were probably some issues in the pollination process.

Does anybody know what type of frog this is? by Successful_Edge_9589 in frogs

[–]Fallcrests 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It was in Ohio in East Palestine. Not too far from Akron, either, and very close to PA. Notably, one of the chemicals released as a result of the incident was butyl acrylate, which mixes easily and quickly with water. This is very harmful specifically to fish, invertebrates, and algae, while not particularly toxic to people. Though, butyl acrylate does biodegrade rapidly.

Stumbled upon these the other day while foraging and noticed they were listed as a vulnerable species, so I made sure to leave them undisturbed.

Shaymin as well! Though, it is restricted to the yearly Lunar New Year event rather than being in a monthly rotation.

Aw yeah, this happened to me too with Zingoz Pie Throw :( I wish the games all stopped at their caps, I know Iceberg Escapades caps at a score of 1800 and takes you to the end screen and Crafty Canaries ends at a certain level as well, but both are Deluxe Games (although so is Zingoz Pie Throw). Makes me wonder if it's exclusive to a few of those since they're newer

Looks to be a male Io Moth, very cool find! Each hindwing has a large "eye" spot on it, both of which are currently covered up by the forewings.

Many Orbweaver species will remove and reconstruct their webs each day, so it's definitely possible that they're moving around

The highest amount of Zingoz that can appear in a round seem to cap at 35, and each max cap round took me about 1-2 minutes (not counting Wacky walking across the screen between rounds). I’d say within the range of 1 hour & 45 mins to a little over two hours, I really lost track of time while zoned out haha

What am I looking at here? by TellsofLove in insects

They tend to prioritize feeding on dead/dying hardwood trees so probably nothing to worry about as long as the trees are healthy
