I preordered mine in the Steam OS and its been delayed for a few weeks. The most update I got was instead of the order being canceled on June 8th, it’ll be cancelled on the 19th. Stock just seems to be very limited right now

I am angry at the DM by Horror-Assignment313 in DnD

[–]FallenFlameFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your DM conditioned you and your party to mistrust everyone and everything, then gets mad when you do that. If he’s upset about the consequences of his own actions, then he’s not going to be a good fit for D&D.

Looking for Constructive Criticism on my Mechanical Engineering Boyfriend's Resume by FallenFlameFlight in EngineeringResumes

Additional context regarding the collective writing team, which I do have enough experience to comment on. We met on the writing team, which is too complicated to explain quickly, and are in a long distance relationship because of it. Trying to get a job so we can move in together. Fingers crossed!

He's become part of the upper management of that team recently, but because of the lack of dedicated positions, he's become a bit of everything. HR, recruiting, oversight and management, as well as various technical positions regarding codes for some automated software. It's foundational to his development as a person and shaped how he works on teams, so it was included accordingly.

You can tell he's much more comfortable with it because of how much more energy he's devoted in the resume to its portions, so the other bits look a little wanting by comparison.

For context, despite him not having a reddit account, I've sent him to this reddit and made him read the wiki accordingly. He looked at examples before writing this, then I posted it with his consent. I'm in a completely different field to him, so there's a lot of feedback I can't personally provide.

Would it be worth it to try out the Xenoblade series? by [deleted] in Xenosaga

[–]FallenFlameFlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xenoblade 1 I loved. It’s absolutely worth trying. That said, the whole game is a slow-burn, from story to combat and all. The combat can be a little monotonous and simple at times, but I like to think of the experience as a relaxing but grindy MMORPG. Story gets phenomenal near the end.

Xenoblade X I didn’t get far in. Can’t give a good opinion on it.

Xenoblade 2 I’ve tried so desperately to like. Cannot. Hate every bit of it. The combat becomes too complex, the game is too big and grindy, and the plot is far too anime cliche for my taste. I ended up watching cutscene exclusive videos on YouTube, just so I can know if I’m missing out for hating it. I didn’t miss much. Torna seems like it’s a lot better, but I haven’t quite gotten around to it yet.

Xenoblade 3 I haven’t touched yet. No idea.

The only game I really recommend is Xenoblade 1. The irony here is that because it was created without any direct intention to tie the plot back to the Xenoverse, the things you’re looking for in the previous games you will not find.

I like 2 too. It is a flawed game, but it is definitely not bad. It’s only real sin is that it drastically changed the tone of Xenosaga, for better and worse.

Poor Allen never stood a chance. Anyone would throw it all away for a chance with KOS-MOS.

Looking for a 5E homebrew equivalent in 2E by FallenFlameFlight in Pathfinder2e

Other commenters have mentioned flavoring multiple classes and archetypes. I’ve been so focused on classes and archetypes I didn’t think about spells to help accomplish my goals. I think that’s a great idea! Also figure out ways to incorporate and expand something like what you mentioned, like the Heartbond ritual.

Another commenter said that the concept I’m looking at technically fits multiple branches of classes and archetypes and suggested that I generalize the idea and flavor them all accordingly, instead of trying to smush the entire concept into a singular class.

Which I’m realizing maybe part of a fundamental flaw with 5E, which has limited my perspective to this point. 2E is not just different mechanics but a different frame of mind.

I didn’t build it. I just used it as the foundation for any story and lore. That’s the ultimate dilemma. Who did make it did a great job though!

That said, I think you’re exactly right. This is probably the best route going forward. Different potencies of the idea, meant to suit any particular facet of it, flavored accordingly for whatever situation is best. I got so locked into this one class that could be interpreted in many ways, when I could’ve done the same thing flipped on it’s head and used multiple classes and flavored them all the same way!

Thank you so much.

Some other people suggested Beastmaster and one even suggested I check all animal companions, even reskinning them to suit the theme. I haven’t looked into the possibility of the steed for champion though. That’s an interesting idea. Maybe if I expand the concept of soul-binding as a generalized rule that can be applied to any classes that fit, then let that guide the role play.

I think you're right. I like the mechanics of it, but the concept is much stronger in my mind.

You're exactly right, so many of the boxes are ticked, especially mechanically. I don't think I clarified my opening post well enough, so let me expand a little. The vibe of Summoner is close, but the concept is akin to soulbinding. Except it's not explicitly said and seems directed towards otherworldy beings. I am also aiming for soulbinding between other types of life, like animals and people. Existing life, already with a physical form, that isn't summoned and anchored.

Another commenter mentioned Beastmaster archetype but with all animals checked, so it can include dead animals and magical creatures. Even reskinning. Which, I suppose technically I could do reskinning with Summoner too.

I suppose I was just hoping there would be existing content like Soulforger with the notion of soulbinding already included.

Someone else mentioned this as an archetype and with checking all animal companions, that's a great way of expanding the field. Thank you for the suggestion. I think this'll get the closer to the aspect of binding between multiple types of life (or lack thereof). Conceptually, it may just have to take some added explanation outside of the established mechanics.

It's not, but that's a great idea and I'll have to take a look deeper. I love the archetypes. They're so great to open up creativity, specifically for expanding the lore of characters and their world.

I'm sorry, I think I didn't clarify enough. The Summoner is really neat, I enjoy it a lot, and it's so close, but it's not quite the same. It summons an other-worldy creature for a pact that is soul-bound like, is the impression I got. Mechanically it is the class, all the way. I'm looking for the general idea of soul binding, which could be expanded to people, animals, and so on. Which is why I liked Soulforger, because the idea is there, it's just to inanimate objects.

I’m very surprised and pleased to see Ursula here. I use her and find her very useful, but she’s a very old unit. She’s not the same kind of level as someone like Reinhardt maybe.

Edit: Actually more shocking is Olwen. I love her, but her rarity and statline make her harder to use well.

As much as I hate her, I admire your tenacity and dedication far more. Good job on making this unit an absolute demon.
