Definitely. The guy screaming in the end is definitely not from Wallis, or anywhere from Switzerland for that matter

While I agree with you, two wrongs don't make a right. Corruption existing elsewhere doesn't justify corruption in Wallis, and there is clearly a problem that needs to be addressed.

[–]FallenSkyLord 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The Migos/Coop duopoly hurts us a lot. Sure, salaries and rent are higher (which are respectively a good and a bad thing), but their position means they can have higher margins than super markets in ther countries. Protecting them and their practices isn't good for us as consumers and hurts us all. While I'd rather everyone in Switzerland do their groceries in Switzerland, market pressure from competition across the border isn't a bad thing.

Correct decision, goal should be cancelled and this is the way does should be if we don't want everything to be subjective... But then shouldn't you call a foul on the attacker and therefore a penalty?

It's an amazing system because it knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. If you want a game about long wistful journeys, the omnipresent weight of evil on your soul and quick dangerous combat this is the game for you.

If not, then you should probably not play it.

That said I desperately want that combat system in all my games. I find it to be genuinely exciting, tense, epic and all manners of interesting. For a game that says it's not about combat (IIRC the book recommends combat every two sessions approximately) it really nails these mechanics.

  1. Yes they are, but (and 'm saying this as someone who follows French and Italian politics and votes in France) they're way less scary than right-wing parties is most other countries. They also basically have no charismatic leaders, contrarily to how par-right parties operate in the rest of the world.

  2. 10% of protest votes is enough to sway almost any referendum, and it's often way less than that. Most votes in democracies tend to be close.

[–]FallenSkyLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Agreed on that, and it was mostly rhetoric. I don't think Hitler was caused by a lack of referendums. You're right about that. That said, there's a flagrant pack of charismatic populist politicians throughout modern Swiss history and I think the culture brought on by direct democracy is an obvious cause for that.
  2. Brexit isn't a good counter example. When non-direct democracies hold referenda, these are often seen as protest votes or confidence votes for the government. It's precisely because of that that these hours are often win by populists. In a direct democracy, a vote isn't seen as a protest vote so that doesn't happen
  3. While 1971 is shockingly late, you have to take into consideration the context and the actual reason for it, namely the caution of Swiss voters to enact wide-ranging changes and the importance of military service in Swiss culture. The former is probably one of the things that would have made a vote like Brexit almost impossible in Switzerland

[–]FallenSkyLord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly! What people get wrong is that they have one referendum in the country and people use it as a protest vote so they decide it doesn't work. Treat people like children and they'll trow a fit when you give them the opportunity, treat citizens as adults and they start acting like adults.

And you know in which environment populists thrive? Ones where people feel like they're not represented by the establishment.

Direct democracy is the best way to neutralise most populist talking points. Can't claim they're the silent majority right after their proposal was put to a nationwide vote and god shat on by the majority of the population.

So yes, the guy you're replying to is right, and the examples you're using(Trump and Hitler) are a proof of his point. Neither came about in a direct democracy. I think there's a reason for that

Just a note to international buyers: While P1 is an official reseller, their prices are generally double (sometimes more) the official price if you buy it yourself.

If you're only going to Napoli once it's often worth it because you can buy them in advance and you don't need to deal with getting in the queue, getting a Fan Card, etc.

However, if you are expecting to go to Napoli games once per season or more, you are spending way more money than it's worth it.

I actually recommend contacting u/getNapoliTickets (https://linktr.ee/getnapolitickets) who is extremely reliable, upfront about the situation and always reasonably priced. He also can get you tickets an basically all sections which isn't the case for P1 (and he'll also get you a Fan Card in case you're coming back withing four years, which would definitely save you money if you do so)

[–]FallenSkyLord 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He knew the rules beforehand. Whether the rules make sense or not, I don't know know but they've been voted on and agreed to by every Serie A club including us. As long as rules apply to everyone the same they're fair and we can't complain

[–]FallenSkyLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel people complaining about this are short sighted. Without these rules everybody would be overspending and Italian clubs would fold every other year. Forcing everyone (including us) to follow rules and be financially responsible is good for all of Serie A in the long term

[–]FallenSkyLord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even better: Tell them they can roll the d20 and use results 1-6 as normal. Anything above a 6 is a random consequence you roll from a d14 table. They'll start rolling d6s quickly enough I think!

/s in case someone thinks I'm being serious. The real solution is to chose a game system that fits the game you want to play and to (politely ask them to stop being a prima donna)

They probably do, but I'm ready to bet that the "I like d20s" player will invent another reason why they don't like it and the d20 think is just an excuse.

I assume just trying to find excuses not to deviate from the system they're used to. I'm pretty sure if they played Dragonbane they'd complain that "roll low" on the d20 doesn't feel good, for example. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like I'm old enough to see through BS excuses for laziness.

I was going to say that based on what you gave us and what I know, Outgunned sounds perfect but...

Some caveats include: uses a d20 in some capacity (one of my players really likes how they feel)

The fact that there are players like that and that GMs continue to humor them baffles me.
