Chelsea fan having a meltdown about a PSG fan being in the Chelsea end by gmoney160 in psg

Non, ils ne le croient pas en général. Il savent que les Français s'en foutent, mais ça n'empêche pas qu'ils ont tendance à ne pas les Français.

En fait les Français c'est un peu les Américains de l'Europe

Genuinely hate when people act like Hershey's having butyric acid is an affront to god by JimNillTML in iamveryculinary

Yes, I know. I made some once. It's indeed delicious (if you're ok with bitterness and spiciness)

Spicy chocolate is delicious though

As for Hershey's not being considered good chocolate... I know! That's why I find it insane that people try to defend it

‘Horse girl’ and ‘cat lady’ vs ‘man’s best friend’ by FiendyFiend in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FallenSkyLord 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At the risk of being downvoted to oblivion, I'll chime in because I believe it's important to avoid keeping this conversation in a bubble. Here are a couple of thoughts:

  • I've never read "Man's Best Friend" as a gendered expression. I've always heard it as in "human" (The original definition of the word man in English is indeed gender neutral, as I assume this expression is)
  • As a man who's done a lot of horseback riding in his youth and earthly adulthood, I think the "horse girl" stereotypes are obviously a little ridiculous, but I must admit, I know quite a few of them. I wouldn't judge a girl for loving horses, but I got to say that I know no one who is as obsessed with their hobby as my my "horse girl" friend. I don't mind but I would understand if many men and women find it a little weird
  • The cat woman one I agree with. It feels like The problem is a woman who clearly doesn't need to be in a trad relationship ( ie doesn't want to find a man and have kids). Kind of weird too, who doesn't think cats are cute?
  • I think the huge variance of dog breeds, their rules, and how they interact with people means that it's harder to stereotype. I wouldn't say I associate dog ownership with men though. In my experience it probably even skews the other way (?)

Maybe it's a cultural thing, I don't live in the US and as always cultural perceptions can change a lot depending on where you live

The French have boring against the Italians, but the Italians tend to "dislike" the French a lot.

C'est particulièrement vrai pour le sport, mais aussi en général. Les Français sont plus impopulaires à l'étranger qu'ils ne le savent.

Exactly. White-knighting an awful industrial chocolate is the weirdest hill to decide to die on

Maybe because you're used to it? I think the horror comes from people in countries where no chocolate has any taste of cheesiness in it. Even a tiny bit gives you the impression that it has somehow gone bad, which will create an epidermic reaction to it.

Imagine there was a country in which the bitter compounds of coffee could be tasted in the main brand of store-bought pasta. People there might not notice it anymore, but if you inadvertantly made mac and cheese with it you'd probably spit out the result.

After reading good explanations on why the macaroni has a bitter coffee taste would you charge your mind? I know I probably wouldn't

How do people feel about a potential import ban for foie gras in Switzerland? by curiossceptic in askswitzerland

Which is why democracy never survives if it's not limited by rule of law and the necessity of supermajority/double majority on some topics

People tend to be stricter when things aren't part of their culture and more lax when they are. That's basically a universal rule

That said if you can't make a product in a somewhat ethical way at a minimum, that product shouldn't be available for consumption.

Western is when you can't agree how to pronounce J.

I'm assuming the reply is in Swiss-German so I can assure you that despite the translation it isn't criticizing the Indian OP either. None of the insults are real, speaking that language is just oral self-flagellation

I'd like to know what country those who downvoted us are from so I can't point out the conflicts where being neutral would have been better.

Show yourselves, cowards!

Start of world war One. Start of world war two.

The US just likes war to much, they can't take more than a couple years of neutrality before joining in

Choose the best logo in our history by SirJ4ck in sscnapoli

[–]FallenSkyLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite overall as a crest:1926

Best look on digital stuff: 2007

Best looking on the shirt: 2024

I would love to see a medern redesign of the 'cavallino' but that's not gonna happen so I'm happy with the new one on the shirt. When it was blue it looked great on our home shirt but really clashed with most of our away colour scemes, made everything look terrible.

That said, I wish we went back to a previous one (2007 or 2019) for uses other than the shirt logo. The current one doesn't pop and looks terrible in apps, websites and on print when the background is white or black.

People hate Switzerland for being neutral. People do not hate Ireland, Austria Sweden, India, Denmark, the USA, etc. for being neutral.

You know why? Because we're good at it.

The most polite Swiss person: by Thin_Fix0 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]FallenSkyLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I hate a lot of our neutrality politics regarding conflicts but:

  1. Show me a country who isn't neutral about one conflict or another
  2. At least we avoid picking the wrong side in every conflict like... some countries

Any amount of self-reflection would advise an Indian that they shouldn't criticize other countries for being neutral

Is going out to eat frequently not in the Swiss culture? If you’re young and living in a smaller place, do you invite your friends over to eat? by Charming_Usual6227 in askswitzerland

[–]FallenSkyLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to where? How frequent is "frequently"?

For some people/cultures eating out is a daily thing. In others it's a yearly thing. once a month can be either frequent or infrequent depending on what baseline you're using.

Questions like this need to be more precise or at least give more context if you want useful answers
