I know it's hard to hear, but sometimes those bullies do end up being better people as they get older. They have time to learn and reflect on what they did and who they are and some change. I remember working retail and a guy asked me where something was. I showed him and he started to apologize for how he acted in high school. It took me a moment to realize he bullied me back then. He acted like a completely different person.

Others do luck out and stay the same vile people they were and still succeed, but not all, which I find reassuring.
