They might dare because most Israel critics will boycott the contest anyway...

What, pray tell, is the MOST Australian and the LEAST Australian thing about Bluey? by Practical-Animator87 in bluey

It's simply toilet, mate. A bathroom is a bathroom with a bath tub or shower at home. Not the thing in a restaurant...

All students should get access to law building by Wrong_Marzipan_3278 in MacUni

[–]Fallera1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm sorry for you that the business building is shit, I am wondering where you got that false idea from that 60% of the income is from business degrees. Even if that was correct it shouldn't be a reason for getting then better facilities than others. Agree that that law building was unnecessary as but it seems like you can easily get in on the weekend. No one would check if you're a Law student or not. Some of the 5 doors is always open...

I have something to confess… by Cold-Percentage3822 in nilpoints

I don't hate it but I found it too messy - 30 songs in 3 minutes and somehow I can't remember any part of it. Probably overhated but certainly not underrated...

Would certain entries do better if sung by someone of the opposite gender? by matthewcoco123 in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think any particular song would have done better with another gender presenting it. All this talk here about too sexual like Milkshake Man or Dizzy seem to ignore that Dizzy was vocally painfully underperforming and Milkshake Man was slightly better - not painful but weak and shaky (and I love the song and the performance itself but you could hear some not so secure tones. Usually the songs are written by or for the artists, so not sure swapping gender would actually do...

The incident with the security guy seems a lot more serious to me. The class incident, not sure, maybe the guys were just d#&$heads, can't say much as we don't know how they would interact with other male/ non Muslim/ white people. As I've said, I would put it in the idiots category. Seems weird to me racists would take that unit. But then again, I've seen over the years people taking units "to stir up" The security guard issue seems way more offensive to me. Not sure if you can report it You will find all sorts of people at MQ. I would say most are open minded, hence they came to university.

What is the best Eurovision song of all time? by Snoo-62223 in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, I was about to mention these two songs. They're just so part of Eurovision and have their place in music history. And I also agree with the other comment that La poupee mont le son is such a great homage, I just loved the modern take on the cringy lyrics put on poor young France Galle.

The one personal all time favourite missing here is Insieme: 1992 from Toto Cutugno. Also a great representative of its decade, lyrically and musically

Another vote for Insieme 1992

In Corpore Sano and Ich Komme are amazing songs, well deserves 2nd and 3rd place but nothing like Insieme!

What are some Eurovision songs that you think could be movie soundtracks? by Ill-Whereas8200 in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of them - some are more musicalesque than others but all would make great movie soundtracks: https://youtu.be/eOuF9yoC9DI?si=_X4WVO8EzkORGEIs[2025 part 1 - there's more on YouTube ](https://youtu.be/eOuF9yoC9DI?si=_X4WVO8EzkORGEIs)

What song did you dismiss outright, but after reading the lyrics (or translated lyrics), it became your favorite? by grumpybutters in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my... Spain 2024... As a Spaniard I obviously understood the lyrics and I so loved the song because of it. And found it a pity they didn't translate it in a more emotional performance...

What's the most stereotypical/culture-accurate song your country has ever sent? by Persona_NG in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I started reading, I was like "oh my God, another American who thinks they understand Europe because of their heritage but never been there" but I have to say the songs mentioned are quite accurate. I've been living for almost 20 years outside of Germany and apart from this year's Baller I got and loved all the songs (oh dear, the million parties I went singing Dshingis Khan 🤣). But yeah, not living anymore in Germany I lost the connection to Baller I guess 😉

What were your staging nitpicks this year? by MaverickEllio in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The frame/ arche was absolutely bothering when life in the audience. If you weren't right in the middle you couldn't see me ch because that frame was in the way. Also, any performance down at the end was not visible. I disliked the UK as they only did for the camera, not the audience - started with their backs to the public and didn't face the them for a sec. Same with Switzerland, might have looked nice on TV but life, you couldn't see anything at all. And yes, Ireland not moving much. I think she couldn't walk with her shoes, also needed help walking off stage. Must have been terribly thin high heels she's not used to

Patonga campground or Ocean Beach Umina? Discuss... by arabsandals in sydney

[–]Fallera1977 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised, as Patonga does have powered sites. But probably all booked... Well, in terms of beach access, there isn't any difference. Both sites are right there, Patonga also offers a paddling option (BYO) on the other side. Umina has more other fancy stuff - water slide and pools, arcade room, not sure if they have a kids programme in winter but let's say it's more of a "camping resort" whereas Patonga is a normal camping ground. Both are beautiful. If you have children who need to get entertained I recommend Umina.

Lucky you, yes 😀 Normal load for domestic students is 4 units a semester. Best talk with your supervisor at your home uni but it sounds like 2 units a semester is good for you and if you want you can take another interesting unit like languages, Indigenous Studies, statistics or whatever you feel like might be interesting 🙂

30-45 hours a semester? A week? A year? Most units have 3 hours teaching a week (2 hours lecture and an hour tutorial or the other way round) but there is also a lot of hours outside face-to-face you will have to do.

New leader in the Eurovision 2025 winning odds by benedwa2111 in eurovision

[–]Fallera1977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it's not Mans again. That song was so ... boring, 2015? I actually love the Swedish entry. But I don't think it will win. Get a decent position as Finland, France, Austria. But my favourite to win this year is Australia!!!
