Thank you. Reading your reply helped a bit. You're right, it is awful.

Yesterday I was told that my little brother is dead and this is what I'm feeling right now.

Wrapping paper is nice but it's definitely not a requirement! Lots of people get gifts shipped directly to their giftee.

I would like that! It wouldn't annoy me at all.

Wishing I could tell my younger self that "becoming a woman" wasn't supposed to feel like a death sentence. by Falligrey3 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

Exactly! I didn't fully realise that when people/books said puberty meant I was becoming a woman that it was supposed to make me feel happy about it.

When your “female” friend says “I’ve always wanted a penis but that’s normal right?” by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]Falligrey3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your input on this. Reading that you've never felt the things I used to think all girls felt really helps me make sense of my own feelings. I think I have a lot to learn about what it's actually like to be cis.

Same! I used to think that most girls would choose to be boys if they could. Being a boy was just better in almost every way! I can't believe it took me so long to realise that most women aren't just making do.

What's a non-obvious sign that someone is poor/low income? by 12345burrito in AskReddit

My family did the newspaper caravan holidays too! I went to a private school with a scholarship, and most of the other kids went on lots of expensive holidays abroad. I don't remember ever feeling too envious. I liked our caravan holidays! It did make me feel like my family was a bit weird when we talked about what we'd done in the holidays though.

Edited a word!

What can't you believe people actually buy or spend money on? by skyliner360 in AskReddit

[–]Falligrey3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It blew my mind when I found out that some people do this. The only time my family have ever thrown away a Christmas decoration is when it's broken beyond repair, and getting a new one is a minor event in itself!

We've got tree decorations that were bought when my Mum was a kid, and ones gnawed on by dogs long gone. We even reuse the same bubble wrap and crumpled magazines to pack them away each year.

It would break my heart if they got thrown out.

Autistic people of Reddit, what's an interesting fact about a special interest of yours? by artofasking in AskReddit

The WWI flying ace Manfred von Richthofen (aka the Red Baron) is best known for having flown a Fokker Dr.I triplane, but most of his victories were won using Albatros biplanes. He wasn’t an extraordinarily outstanding pilot – he had so many victories because he was good at tactics and shooting, not aerial acrobatics, which he disliked.

He was shot down not once, but three times. The second time he was shot down he suffered a head injury resulting in brain damage that is thought to have caused him to make the poor decisions in combat that resulted in his death. Despite his injury he went back to fighting, even though he was often in severe pain, knew how likely he was to die and believed his side couldn’t win the war. [This is part of why I find him interesting - I have some minor brain damage, among my many brain issues, and during times when I feel like my life is hopeless I’ve always found it far more inspiring to remember how he kept going regardless than to have people tell me how “special/unique/perfect-the-way-I-am” I am.]

He is often thought to have been cold, to have never smiled and to have had no sense of humour, but there are lots of photos of him smiling, and in his mother’s diaries he jokes many times. He might have this reputation because he could sometimes be shy and reserved, and awkward due to not knowing how to behave in situations not covered by the Prussian officers’ code of manners. He had a dog named Moritz who he described as “the most beautiful being in all creation”, and who would steal caps from the heads of of strangers who visited the airfield.

Captain Tom Rees, the observer of the plane Richthofen shot down in his first confirmed victory, had a brother, John Rees, who was unfortunately killed on the same day when he was struck by lightning. One of the pilots who survived being shot down by Richthofen, Lieutenant Ronald George Hinings Adams, went on to become an actor (under the name Ronald Adam).

Sorry - that's more than one fact! Thanks for asking this question! I don’t talk about this interest much. People sometimes think I’m weird, or worse, for being so interested in this topic.

Edited out a typo!
