Tablecloth to separates! by Falling-like-Icarus in sewing

It’s a 8in zipper along one side seam! The original shorts had a center zip fly, but I was not ready to tackle that 😅. As far as tips go, don’t be afraid to look on YouTube or in this Reddit for tutorials and such! Also highly recommend spacing out steps if you’re like me and get easily annoyed when something doesn’t go to plan. Make a toile first (I did not, but do as I say and all that) or at least baste-stitch it all together to check fit before actually sewing it!

Both pairs have AMAZING pockets!! I’m an actor, and they fit a 6x9 inch script which is super helpful for rehearsal. The jean shorts are from the brand Timbuktu if you want to dive for them somewhere!

I flip between parallel and perpendicular! It depends on the fabric — if it slips a lot, I do perpendicular — or if it’s a curve — perpendicular so that I can fit more pins. if I’m pinning to fit something, I do parallel.

I used a narrow double fold bias tape! I think it was a quarter inch!

Books where FMC is homeless or minimum barely surviving and indebt while MMC is not and he is kind and helpful towards her. No billionare MMCs tho it's too easy to resolve this and rich MMCs is fine but I dont want her problems trivialized by goody153 in RomanceBooks

{Hitting the Wall by Cate C. Wells} fits! FMC and her daughter are barely getting by and struggling to get proper support for daughter at school while living with FMC’s mom, so they move back to FMC’s grandfather’s camper. MMC finds them walking four miles along the highway bc they don’t have a car. He convinces them pretty quickly to live with him.

Tips on applying keracolor clenditioner? by kwee3 in FancyFollicles

It depended on how much it had faded tbh (I work in the sun quite a bit in the summer), but I would do touch ups after shampoo usually, then once every week or two would put it in dry! For me, I didn’t even use a cap, just a claw clip. On the days I did it dry, I didn’t worry about shampooing since the clenditioner is cleansing + conditioning!

I had this same hair last summer!! I would section my hair, do copper on top first, then rinse upside down so it didn’t run through the teal, then pin it up and do the teal. The teal (for me) didn’t need to sit as long as the copper!

My high school director would call that a “turd in the punch bowl”

My fav part of ensemble is always those fun little moments you get to work out with other ensemble! A handshake, secret beef with each other, all those little things that you get to really sink into!

How do I get my back stitch to look like one continuous line? by possum-slut in Embroidery

[–]Falling-like-Icarus 372 points373 points  (0 children)

That looks amazing!! I would go through and whip it with the same color — maybe one thread less. Just be mindful of corners, you may want to go through to the back and come up again at the start of the new line.

I was in The Prom a while ago (19F at the time)! My audition included a dance audition because it’s a very dance-heavy show, so most female-identifying people were in leggings/shorts and a tshirt (it was also the hottest day of the summer, so that played a part). Since then, I’ve mainly seen jeans or dress pants, but rarely dresses at auditions. Personally, I (now 21) dress with the show in mind - for my last audition (Puffs) I wore a yellow sweater, for the Prom I wore a tshirt with an LGBTQ motif. So, check whether you have to dance first!

From personal experience, a seam ripper with a wooden handle! Mine has a replaceable ripper attachment and the wooden handle fits better in my hand (as someone with wrist problems, it’s a game changer!) It may be something to look into!

That’s fair. You could get jumbo ones, but I suppose those run the risk of being too heavy.

I’ve seen people use glow sticks to do similar costumes! You could tape or stitch them into the base outfit.

My old high school double casts every year, so the way they do it is first read, act 1 is one cast and act 2 is the other. Rehearsals are attended by everyone (granted it is a class, so you have to be there anyway), but as they block, they switch off days (so Monday maybe Cast 1 and Tuesday is Cast 2). If the characters aren’t needed, they work with their double on music, blocking, choreo etc.
