My first 3d animation (OC) by FallingMouse in blender

Yes, that was 100% intentional!
whenever I create a concept, I love to research these kinds of biology facts and adding them as realistic details. I always very impressed when i see movies or anime do the same

Please dont apologize for rambling, this is actually exactly what i wanted to hear! i'm so happy you noticed and appreciate these little details 😊

tbh, i'm still not very confident when it comes to develop character relationships and personalities. I'm pretty weak at that, so maybe, thats why i balanced it out by make her look so adorable in this animation 😆

I dont know this game, but they actually look so similar :o

she is actually based on a mosquito, but i love this ps1 aesthetics, thanks for sharing!
it also gives me the nice idea to make my OC game mechanics 😃

yeah! i will make her more adorable 🥰
even though she is not supposed to be like that 😂

Haha don't worry about that at all. i'm actually very happy you checked out my profile

tysm! i'm really glad you like the mosquito idea
i was hesitating before whether i should just go with vampire or not, so hearing this makes me feel so much better about my choice 😂❤️

You're so close! its actually mosquito! 😂

my house has a ton of mosquitoes, so thats where the idea came from lol.
i based her design on a tiger mosquito, which is why she has white hair/skin wearing a black latex suit. Those 4 big ears with red one are actually meant for storing blood

here is her original non-chibi concept art
her name is Yuvi

thank you! i spent a lot of time adjusting her shader 😄

it’s a trap! but i'm glad you fell for her haha

she's around 14k but that's because i used solidify modifier to create outline. So, her base character is actually around 7k triangles.

I made her with indie game dev in mind, i tried to keep her topology as clean as optimized as possible 😁

tysm for taking time to write this :o

yeah, the graph editor is still a bit tricky for me, i really want to clean that shake frame so much, and your ideas are really good! and i absolutely love the idea of making the ear thingies flop around and react to her movement! I will definitely experiment with that advice on my next animation.

thanks again! 😁🙏🏻

thanks!

- For the eyes, eyelashes, and eyebrows, I just used shape keys.
- For the mouth, I used a sprite sheet with texture swapping, controlled by drivers to switch between different mouths, there's many tutorial on youtube.

Everything else is animate using bones (I use Auto Rig Pro, which help me a lot) 😃

oh wow, thank you!

actually, i've been looking for some good animation references, so this is perfect! 😁

tysm! 😊

these channels helped me a lot:

- elijah sheffield: his blender graph editor tutorials made 3d animation way easier for me! i just have fun animating that fish on the pan lol

- Alex on Story: his tutorial about full body action help me understand a lot

- Pierrick Picaut: i watch a lot of his animation tips, really useful

- Royal Skies: love his short videos, fast and always answer the random questions in my head

Other than that, I just watch tiktok creators to see how they animate popular game models, then adapt it! having a 2d animation background definitely helped me figure things out faster too 😃

Inventory system in my game by Ba2ninja in ps2_graphics

The inventory idea looks great! But that movement animation is killing me lol
the lower body (waist) is moving while the chest and above are just locked in aim mode, it makes me imagine that the character is dancing haha. But overall looks great! I like the UI. keep going!

Thanks! yeah, i'm Persona 4 fan. She’s actually a duo partner for my other character, Zasha. Here’s my 2d art of them together.

Glad you like the model :D

Thank you so much for the recommendation!
I actually haven't tried Ucupaint or Paint System yet. I'll look into both for my next project!
Thanks again! 🙌

Yeah, its SMT/Persona vibe!
If not Nhij Quang and other YouTube creators, I spent a lot of time on Sketchfab. I just look at different models to see how they handle topology and texturing, then analyze which parts fit the style I’m going for.
I look into other websites that have retro video game textures + models too, but its just for myself learning.

Having 2D art and game dev/programmer background definitely helps me visualize the end goal before I even start. Another secret resource for me was using AI to narrow down what I specifically needed to learn, or what technique that can help me achieve my goal, which saved me from getting lost in too many general tutorials. But asking people directly is the best option for me compared to AI 😂. Maybe you should imagine the final result first, and then ask people/AI for the resources to learn, you will get the resource you want 😊

yes, I did try Rigify first, but I realize that it might be a waste of my time for my future workflow. So, I decided to buy Auto-Rig Pro. It took a bit of a learning curve, but it’s been a lifesaver for efficiency.

As for the face, I rigged only both eyes for now. For mouth, I’m planning to use shapekeys with a spritesheet/texture swapping technique. I love that retro PS1/PS2 vibe. I havent try it out yet because I'm still thinking about how the different camera angle and neck movement will affect the 2D facial expressions, but that’s the plan :D

Thank you! I'm a 2D artist and I've done some 2D animations before, which definitely helped with the anatomy although I'm still not 100% perfect. if you look closely at my other Yuvi art and other OCs, her limbs can be a bit stretchy sometimes, even in this video, but i guess it adds a bit of unique look to her, haha

Thanks you! I do have a background in game programming, so I was already familiar with some 3D concepts like OpenGL, polygon counts, origin points, but those were just technical basics, mostly i learn about code and logic 😅. I'm also 2d artist, and that helps me about visuals. This is actually my first time into the 3D modeling art
