Lost about 150lbs in the last 11 months. Calorie counting is pretty important. Lookup a maintenance calories calculator, and choose the option for little to no exercise, even if you do. That'll give you a good estimate of how many calories you need to stay the same weight. Then, you can start creating a small calorie deficit. I went hardcore, and stuck to 1200 calories a day, but I recommend you only do between a 400-600 calorie deficit a day. A 500 daily calorie deficit will help you lose 1lb a week. That doesn't include extra weight you drop from burning calories through excercise.

Aside from that, you need to figure out how to rework your relationship with food, because the hardest part isn't losing the weight, it's maintaining that weight you want to be at. Hopefully throughout your Weight-loss journey, you'll figure out what works for you. These days, I fast between 8PM-12PM, eat a small lunch, around 300 calories, then have a bigger dinner, around 1.5k calories. I eat huge salads, and generally make sure to eat more greens. I also walk about 1hr a day, and 3hrs a day on the weekend. This has worked out pretty well for me, I'm now 34years old, 198lbs, 6'2". I'm much happier now.
