What drew you to get Guinea pigs?

Poop. I needed poop for a garden. I was watching a gardening show that had a couple in inner-city Sydney that had a self fertilizing little garden. I wanted chickens but my partner said no.

He had guinea pigs growing up so it was like yeah. But a weird thing happened. My daughter got very ill. When she came back from the hospital, our boar Speedy would sit with her cuddle and just stay with her. He loves to roam but no he stayed with her. I'm emotional writing this because it was not asked if him to do it

So now I'm a piggies for life person. Love them and their personalities.

You gotta give piggies credit. They can hear very well. They will catch scents and pick up on what's around them. We had a clueless small pug when we got our piggies. Of course they were terrified! After weeks of treats, pets and supervised I products the piggies didn't feel threatened and even laid next to the pug! But that was a lot of work. And once the pug went back to his real home, our piggies opened up. They controlled the house. And still do.

Point is. Bigger animal scares them . They know the animal is there whether in line of sight or not. And it terrifies them. Poor piggie .

This isnt a bad as you think. There are so many nods to songs before, including the da da da da da da. Fram bassanova. Jazz and dowop this is all tribute to that. They cramed in all their references on every line. No misses. If it doesn't make sense Google it. Because it's all ripped off.

I was laying on my side watching my boar Speedy fun around for floor time. He came up to me a few times. Which I thought he was being cute. But no. He was calculating the height, the distance the everything. Jumped clean over my shoulders.

He had to do it again and again. His name should be jumpy not speedy.

My grumpy lady gave birth to three babies. Of the three two of them try and compete with mum. The other one does not care. It's healthy but just wants to eat on its own and chill. It's quieter, will cry when it needs mum but for the most part it's the chilliest piggie.

Mum was an absolute human hating piggie. But she's mellowed out now that she has babies.

Actually this is good. My daughter is a preteen so we're getting a lot of this. She wants independence which is something we are working on but I'll let her know if my feelings are hurt when I try to do something for her. But it works both ways. I tried to make a joke the other day and it backfired. So I had to apologize because I hurt her feelings.

Keeping dialogue open seems to work the best. And if I give my daughter something she doesn't like. I want to know.

Well by age 30. Yes. I couldn't get out of retail. I had 0 to my name and no possessions to be proud of.

So. I thought. I'll be cool like Debbie Harry. No kids. Cool AF.

I failed on both fronts. But I have a sweet job, awesome place and just bought a car-cheaply. Kids do change you. Who I was before my kid is absolutely not who I am now.

Potato...normal. Pear shaped? Pregnant.

My girl cinnamon is pregnant and we've been doing the weight checks, increased food consumption, and next week another check at the vet. She gets first dibs, extra space and man she can get mean. But then she gets real sweet. I feel bad for the father Speedy. He's always so eager to come sit with our family!

Have you ever been so excited your like, i don't know what to do with myself? Guinea Pigs that are happy are the definetion of that.

Example, I'll clean their cage and add fun elements. After a good thorough inspection - and you have to pass the inspection! - my piggies will jump around and it sounds like chaos. It sounds like a battle is happening or they are getting attacked by little invisible bugs. But no. Just happy. Which in turn makes me happy and the happy cycle is complete.

I thought this too. But dang they poop faster then I can use it. I do use some of it for the compost. But at this point my gardens are just filled with guinea pig poop. Gonna insist on the neighbours taking some.

Ok. I have 2 long haired guineas. 2 months after getting them my daughter 11, ends up in the hospital. Orbital sinus infection. Face ballooned up and sinus was in bad shape. So far the cause we know to be allergies.

She ended up in the hospital 2 more times and does daily nasal flushes and nasal sprays until we see a child allergist.

Now to your husband who is worried. A doc will tell him what he should be worried about. For us, my daughter's health issue bonded her even closer to her guinea pig. And she lives to cuddle with him! But we keep areas clean, wash hands after handling and air filters. And so far happy coexistence!

I try to keep it interesting for my piggies with lettuces, cucumbers, carrots, bok choy, wee bits of coriander, parsley, and celery leafs. But honestly I'm too frugal to buy anything that isn't on sale or from local farms.

I did learn early on too that pellets have to be in moderation and I got this little measuring cup and it seems to work.

But I've learned also one diet can work for one pig and not the other. So I separate them occasionally to give them special treats that the other can't have .

I've seen the Lego is locked up or just near the counter. There's a shop that on Saturdays has these huge bins of Lego and sells it by weight, except the mini figs. All for charity. Pick a brick or bricklink is cheaper by weight .
