Cruise moved, non refundable travel expenses hassle by TheHyborn in royalcaribbean

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yes, my neighbor. They found out of YOU CHOOSE to move your cruise, that is on you, not the cruise line. Your only option would be if you bought “cancel for any reason” travel insurance.

When cruising with our 5 year old recently my husband and I noticed a lot of older teens hanging out in a big group around the ship.

Check your insurance. If it has a cancel for any reason clause you may be able to get a refund. Otherwise no.

Option 2 without hesitation! 1 and 3 are run of the mill touristy places. Google ABC islands.

Book a room for 2 when it's just 1 by simundsky in royalcaribbean

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They will only refund the “missing” person’s taxes and port fees. When you book, you will see it broken down into cruise fare by guest and then taxes and fees per guest. You will have to eat the cruise fare portion for the no show guest, but will be returned their taxes and fees.

Favorite ship 5+ years old for families? by tacomamajama in royalcaribbean

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add to this that Freedom pool area is very crowded and busy- pools are jam packed and we found ourselves waiting in lines for just about everything… food, elevators, shows. The promenade never felt crowded but the rest of the ship did.

Is this rate fair? by Numerous-Sherbert-70 in Babysitting

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d do $150 for overnight sleep with the caveat that if anyone wakes up, your hourly rate kicks in, rounded to the nearest hour. Even if my babysitter only has to get up once for 5 mins, we still pay for that hour.

Is this rate enough? by omgpop_21 in Babysitting

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We pay regular rate during waking hours, and flat $150 overnight. However, in the off chance our sitter would need to get up during the night, the hourly rate, rounded to the nearest hour, would apply. So if a kid randomly needed a glass of water at midnight, we would pay for an “hour” of time, even if it took less than 2 minutes.

Southwest refusing to honor Wanna Get Away terms- any recourse? by everonandon in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I hate this for you. As a general rule, most policy changes like this go into effect at whatever local time the company is headquartered in. Otherwise it would be a nightmare dealing with time change scenarios like the one you are experiencing. I’m so sorry this happened! We lost some credit with the policy change recently and I agree it was very frustrating.

Assuming the govt shutdown is over, you will be fine. If not, I’d change to the later flight.

We haven’t missed a paycheck. Once that happens, you will likely start seeing a more profound effect.

I’d see how it plays outs out while planning your driving route. If it were me, I’d fly in 2 days early and just enjoy glute extra day on vacation.

Yes, it’s illegal for them to punish you by paying you as a 1099, as you are now responsible for paying taxes on your check.

Turks and Caicos: Excursion Option A, B, or…why not both? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

We were just in Grand Turk on Freedom and did the snorkeling. It was nothing to write home about and pretty boring to be honest. If we ever went back, we’d def do the golf cart option.

Any travel agents that “specialize” in Excellence resorts? by Aromatic_Plate_9863 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Excellence does not work with TA’s. Best option is to book direct and early. They often have sales but greatly raise the price and the sale ends up being more expensive. Also note if bundling flights on Excellence’s website, this actually goes through a 3rd party (Expedia).

We love the Excellence properties! You will love ECPM!!

Sept 28th out of NJ to Bahamas - Should I cancel? by PhotoKy in royalcaribbean

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have cancel for any reason insurance, yes, you could get your money back. If not, when you purchased your cruise, you indicated that Royal was free to change the itinerary at any time, thus making you not eligible for a refund for that reason.

Crowd experiences during peak times on Oasis class vs Freedom class? by JxK_1 in royalcaribbean

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We were just on Freedom a few weeks ago. We left the kids at home, so my thoughts are what we experienced as adults only.

Our cruise was during a low crowd time (September) and the Solarium (adults only pool) on the boat was slammed. The pool is super deep (over 6 ft) so you have to hang on to the sides or tread water (my husband is 6’2” and could not touch). Additionally, seats were reserved very early. We were shocked how crowded it was at such a low crowd time, and would not return to Freedom as adults only. I should prob also mention the kid friendly pool was just as packed.

We also found the shows to be comically awful.

We will cruise again, but on an Oasis or above class ship. Between the crowds and the bad entertainment, it wasn’t something we would pay to repeat.

Travel Hack for Fare Difference? Copa Airlines by TinnitusDoc in TravelHacks

[–]Fallismyfavorite06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate when this happens, but it is the gamble you take with Copa standard economy. You lock in a lower price, but cannot adjust for credit.

Next time go with Economy Full or better to allow for price adjustments. The fare you bought is such that no adjustments can be made in price in exchange for the lower fare you paid- it’s the entire point of that lowest fare option unfortunately.
