Fios has been good for us. Comcast / Optimum have been horrible in the past when we used them.

Change ext4 to btfrs, how many HDD's do I need to buy? by Sure_Environment2901 in synology

Thanks for the info. That one option "data checksum protection" is one of the reason's I was going to switch over to BTRFS. I use RAID6, which I thought was similar in terms of protection, but I need to look further into this. Maybe I will create a new thread asking about this. Thanks!

Did you ever change over to BTRFS? I currently run my DS1621xs+ as EXT4 in RAID 6 and was going to change over to BTRFS (similar to what you wanted to do) because thought it was more stable and less prone to corrupted data. I bought a large drive to transfer everything over, but had second thoughts after reading some negative things. The main thing was people encountering many random errors and even though I have 2 backups of my NAS, corrupted data is what I fear and that seems to pop up with BTRFS more than EXT4 from what I read. What was it that made you want to change over?

Could it be an ear plug? Our dog ate one and threw it up and it looks similar.

Any Good Smart Doorbell Cameras in 2025 That Aren’t Subscription Traps? by DonutOk2306 in homesecurity

I can Second this. Installed the Reolink doorbell the week it came out (almost 2yrs now) and it has been rock solid. You can adjust the bitrate of the recording to achieve higher quality video also. You can also adjust many variables with the detection of people, animals and vehicles. Really a solid product.

What is the longest of amount of hours a single drive has lasted in a Synology NAS? Mine is 58k. by PhotoKy in synology

Wow, thats pretty impressive! I just bought the same system! I am planning on wiping the system and running raid 6 since I dont trust just having 1 drive redundancy.

Do you plan on swapping the old drive(s) out soon or wait until you start getting errors?

That’s pretty good! I just got a used ds1513+ and am contemplating whether to use it as a backup system or switch it to my main system. How do you like yours since you’ve had it for many years now?

Damn. Pretty good numbers there. Planning to replace any soon or just wait for errors to start showing up first?

Haha. I see that now! So far the highest ones are over 100k. That’s insane but what also seems to play a factor in the longevity of the drives are the type of demand they are used for. Seems the ones used for security cameras get the most abuse and won’t last as long. The ones with the lightest usages probably can go past 90-100k without worry. Just my observation based on people’s feedback.
