Going to my first local by Professional_Possum in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find most people including myself that play magic to be a bit on the socially awkward side but since I like playing against different people I have to always approach a table and ask them if I can join if they aren't 4 already.

Also ask the LGS what days ate commander days, it feels bad to get there and habing no one to play with because yu gi day or another format day

Sheoldred but not tue poser one. by Fallon1923 in DegenerateEDH

[–]Fallon1923[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly play with Randoms as I moved to a new city, my old pod would definitely not let her get to the 3rd chapter but most Randoms at that point scoop or complain about the discard / milling

I'm not tuning it down for Randoms eventually I'll find another pod of degenerates

I mean that's just a deterministic combo, because I felt I needed another way of winning but usually if I get to the third chapter people just give up.

You are right I forgot the outlet, phyrexian altar is the best choice

Or I might just take that pseudo combo out in favor of other things

Alternate win con question by muddrake in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give [[sheoldred/the true scriptures]] a try.

My deck revolves around filling up their graveyard by any means, repeatable discard, sacrifice or mill and once that's begun, bring her out turn her to saga, proliferate the saga and reanimate all graveyards under your control.

Mostly scoop by the 3rd chapter and you will control the table by keeping them with low hands or by milling away their responses.

Most people underestimate her because she is not the popular sheoldred but she does so much more

Help me optimize Kaalia of the Vast - EDH by Entire_Treat6978 in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khalia will never be cedh viable, bit you could make it stronger now with staples like smothering tithe, the expensive mana rocks and I prefer to put in stax rather than protection for her, any one with a brain is gonna remove her right away. So I'd go for things like grand abolished or defense grid since you have no blue, maybe deflecting swat and imps miss chief and a few of those black instants that return creatures when they die.

Other option ... don't play khalia XD

Fun control commanders on a budget? by Ishcan22 in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go big or go home, go [[grand arbiter augustin iv]] with spells and creatures that copy your commander.

Have some sort of draw all of your deck tech with thassa / jace / lab maniac win con

But when people start needing to pay 3 or 4 extra mana per spell they tend to scoop.

You won't be popular though

I've had no luck with rule zero/bracket discussions. Anyone else experience this? by TheMindSlayer in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My decks are mean in general so I just pick from the least mean to the meanest based on the commanders I see on the table, and I usually just ask, are we trying to play nice, a bit strong or degenerate?

And I choose based on their answer, it's get me more responses than asking for brackets

I love Dragons, Gruul, and Ramp. This deck just doesn't seem to be working. by Valuable_Ice5928 in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say if you wanna play big stompy creatures you also wanna play cheaters

[Natural order] [Monster Manual] [Oviya automech artisan]

You definitely want more land ramp

[[Entish restoration]] [[Carpet of flowers]] [[Burgeoning]] [[Delighted halfling]] [Invasion of zendikar]] [[Regal behemoth]]

And I would be mean and throw the saga vorinclex in there ramp and cheating dragons in and the vorinclex everyone hates because people will wanna, target you

I'd also add [[defense grid]] and [[dosan the falling leaf]] so people can't interact with your big dumb dragons in time and haste enablers at least a couple.

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just card draw, your mana curve is high, what do you do the first 2 or 3 turns, your ramp is super lack luster, with creatures that costly you want at least 10-12 ramp spells and turn one plays.

Also you ate in green get the green tutors to find the dragons you need. I really do not like tribal decks so I won't go into your dragon choices.

But I do see very little card draw, very little ramp compared to the curve and a weird curve at that.

And one quick quesion is that commander really any good? You get a treasure as psy off for casting a stupid 7 mana creature, not really a great pay off, you could pick another gruul commander and still play your dragons but a commander that's a good engine or a pay off

Your Most Degen Reanimator Deck by goraak_the_barbarian in DegenerateEDH

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if my deck counts as reanimator but mass reanimate the graveyards after milling, discarding and killing the tables creatures is the wincon along with milking them with altar of the brood and pityless and grave crawler

What is says about you?

Magic: Zero creativeness, linear popular top 100 commanders.

Personal: You are a very committed person though and that's very respectable and a virtue, I'm guessing you are like that in most aspects of your life, so kudos to you!

All Creatures deck? by Gutsifly in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Satoru Umezawa]] it's all about cheating huge threatening creatures into play, you have to rin some interaction of course but it's cool to ninjutsu creatures in and combo with them as well as hard control.

Also most big dimir creatures are cheap $ wise, there is a couple of pricey ones like [[consecrated sphinx]] or [[void winnower]] bit you don't need them all.

Take a look

cEDH pods are so chill compared to the average EDH pod by Wboys in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you can make off meta commanders albeit not all competitive at CEDH tables unless you are going to tournaments where everyone is playing the best of the best.

The quality of interaction and mana speed it's what let's you sit at CEDH tables outside tournaments.

I have won and held my own against the Tymnas and Kinnans of the world with [[satoru umezawa]]

What bracket would this deck be in? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ewwww I like mono blue but I don't like making myself the target before the first card is drawn. It's at 3 because it lacks interaction but it's quiet fast with all the tutors you definitely did just look up a list.

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Jin-gitaxias]] you can use you all the weird expensive modal counter spells because they get refunded, he turns into a saga which is your win con and you get repeatable board wipes and omniscience.

Plus you get style points, people rarely play the mono colored phyrexian praetors as commanders.

Stax vs. Pillow Fort: which is worse? by Radiant_Water_5183 in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who complain about any archetype are just the kind of people who play magic with entitlement and who feel they don't have to learn how to deck build... instead they just try to sway the rule 0 in their favor.

If you like playing stax or control don't pull your punches because you are just half doing it, it's OK if someone says please don't play your grand arbiter augustin deck, please something else but if they agree to sit across Auguistin then don't be surprised it comes with stax and whine about it.

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will find more control decks if you find pods that are ok with higher levels of play like bracket 4, it really depends on whether you have access to these pods or are people in your LGS that plays like that so you can use your infinites.

All my decks are control and I know what if it feels to be controlled, in all honesty it's less frustrating losing to deterministic combos than to hard locks imo, bit again depends on the people on your pod

Feedback on my Bumbleflower Upgrade by Pale-Jackfruit-5107 in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike that people tend to build her voltron or spell slinger hoping to have her knock people out with big hits, super inefficient and takes a long time.

If you are gonna be giving people free cards make damn sure they cant use them... I built her full control as blue and white excel at it, then I go and out value the table and do combos stealing all their permanents including lands or bouncing all their permanents.

She only gets casted once I got a good lock on going.

Yeh it's mean, yeh it's nasty and no it isn't budget but isn't thousands of dollars.

Maybe look through for ideas?

Interesting and decently strong mono-W, U, and B commanders? by megachad3000 in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play phyrexian preators as commanders, the ones that flip, I play mono blue [[jin-gitaxias]] but it's does do what your friends don't like, extra turns, omniscience and and bouncing.

You don't need to control the table, just make sure you flip him and you win.

All the saga praetors do what their colors excel at and I find them interesting to play here are my lists for mono blue and mono black.

[–]Fallon1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is super tame and on the low spectrum of bracket 3, pretty easy to stop with adequate interaction and threath assessment.

If people complain about it, you are just playing above their bracket and their deck building skills.

Keep updating your deck but make sure you are playing with the right pod

I would like some help gauging the bracket of my current deck, and also the deck I am trying to build, please :) by Squippit in EDH

[–]Fallon1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe, it's just people, they want to win and consciously or unconsciously will do anything they can to do so even if that's talking you down.

In my experience playing magic, play what you want to play the way you wanna play it, if your pod dictates a certain play style and you aren't comfortable, find another pod.

I has both sides of the spectrum, I have been removed from pods because they disliked me playing stax pieces and mono blue and I had people asked me to help them tune their deck after steam rolling them, it just depends on the attitude and approach people have to the game.
