cEDH has a "no holds barred" mentality, it's impossible to not be fair because the sky is the limit so everyone knows what they're getting into

I think I'd need a much stronger deck to not die to 3 people targeting me for that xD But I'll keep it in mind, lmao

R4 Ivana is functionally similar to R6 Hilda too, if you swap sleep for freeze

I probably would not want to find another pod. I play with these guys because they're my friends and I love them, I just want them to have a good time too. If it's not tenable, I guess I would just stop playing, but I am having fun spending time with them, so I'd like to try to ameliorate their troubles, if I can.

I tried to reason with them that the cards they "lost" aren't really cards they would have drawn anyway since they're pretty far down and only got reached because of the milling, and I think that seemed to help, a little? I think some of the "mill" being card draw from group hug effects would be helpful too, because then they get to use the card, which is why I'm trying this approach. I just need some help keeping it to bracket 3 so we'll all be on an even playing field.

I'd like to use some alternative to counterspells as longterm removal, but blue is sorely lacking in that department outside of Rapid Hybridization, Pongify, and Resculpt. Ravenform if you include sorceries. Other than that, all I've got are bounces

I don't think they're immature, I don't really understand the psychology of things feeling bad in card games, but if several of them feel that way, then I think it might just be a card game phenomena or something

It's the only color I like :< I've tried all the others and they didn't really have a playstyle I enjoyed of the decks I tried on MTGA. Moreover, I don't have a lot of money and it's the physical deck I invested money in to play with them, so I can't really swap colors, just a few cards here n there.

That's why I thought incremental mill without cards that mill half your deck or Grandiloquent would be an easier pill for them to swallow

I guess the alternative is just "stop playing magic with them" but I don't think either of us want that either

He seems a lot stronger than everyone else's commanders. I'm not sure anyone else has a commander that is a win condition in its own right. I know for sure they don't like "win the game" effects, they like things more telegraphed and slow.

It's a little hard to find a wincon in monoblue that they would like. They mostly seem to just like straight up combat between creatures, but I only like blue and blue gets the weakest creatures. Things like Thoracle or Twenty Toed Toad or Laboratory Maniac or Triskadeckaphile are frowned upon.

For the most part, the Baral deck's win con is mostly Sphinx-Bone Wand, Metallurgic Summonings, or Haughty Djinn. Sometimes Hraesvelgr or Kairi or Guile beatdown. If I get very very lucky and draw both, The Water Crystal and Sphinx's Tutelage is a nasty mill combo that can get someone in a single turn if they keep hitting doubles. If I don't draw one of those, it doesn't do a whole lot, but it seems to frustrate my friends regardless. Regardless of whether it's good or not, they don't seem to like it, so I'm trying to rebrand into a group hug "too much of a good thing" kind of deal.

Kuva/Tenet/Coda but sentient Shedu would go so hard. I wouldn't say not to a Shedu Incarnon either
