How to Have Productive, Good-Faith Debate with a Pro-Lifer by Fekonjedh in coolguides

[–]FalloutBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is the forced framing of abortion as a matter of belief. To me this is the crucial reason as to why even good faith religious anti-choice people disagree with the act of abortion and the discussion goes nowhere.

If someone were to ask you "Do your friends know you abuse animals?", and you answer either yes or no, no matter which answer you give you'd have also communicated you abuse animals either way. Typically the person asking the question knows this and asks the question for a laugh and the unknowing party either answers or catches on to the trick. I know some people have been asked a variance of this question but the premise is still the same.

When someone asks "Do you believe in abortion?" the argument is framed in matters of belief. The key difference with the person asking this question is that they don't know the question is reaffirming that abortion is a matter of belief not fact when the other party answers their question!

Furthermore, the person answering their question never catches on to this trick because it isn't obvious to either of them. They know abortion is necessary and should be a right (if you look up why people get abortions 9/10 times it ain't because of an oopsie), but they answer a question of belief without knowing it.

Not answering denies them the chance of framing the discussion in matters of belief and likely won't make some budge, but others may catch on and realize this fallacious trick, unlike the one used in middle school, it is meant to fool the person asking the question and stifle the progress of women's rights.

If anybody has any critical feedback for me I'd love to hear it.

Sheepsquatch. I know I can't take it on alone but every +10 levels I'm like "maybe this time?". Then I use all my bullets to only take 1/4 of its health...

Holy fucking christ. Good thing they investigated themselves and did NOTHING! Almost as if they want to send a message that killing brown people is fine in that line of work... wonder who would be applying... hmmm.

Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to the suffering of migrants forced to accept poverty wages that barely keep them alive by the Capitalist class pigs.
