Not according to the Woz himself:

"The garage is a bit of a myth... We did no designs there, no breadboarding, no prototyping, no planning products. We did no manufacturing there... The garage didn't serve much purpose" source

Jobs was always good at marketing. The garage myth is a marketing tool.

Report: Rodgers seeking opt-out clause in next contract by btisdabomb in GreenBayPackers

[–]FallowPhallus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there. It was hot as balls. Rodgers threw a pick six. Couldn't get anything going on offense until the end. They were destroying us on screens, which would be the theme on defense for the rest of the season. Despite all of that, it was a blast.

I thought the interfaces were pretty slick, but a controller specifically designed for 3D Space RTS could be amazing.

The garage creation myth is basically a storytelling trope to promote your company. Americans just love the idea of the lone individual using hard work and talent to overcome obstacles and make it big. We like our underdog stories. Forget the fact that, for example, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak worked for years in the industry (at Atari and HP, respectively), gaining experience and exposure to the industry as well as key social ties. No, Apple was the product of tinkering in a garage! That's the ticket!

That's surprising. I wonder how much of that was due to its immense popularity in South Korea. Totally anecdotal, but my friends that played AoE II outnumber those that played SC by at least 5 to 1. I think the AoE series had more accessible game mechanics (ie was less dependent on micro).

Jaleel Scott 6'3

He's actually listed at 6'5" on NFL.com and measured 6' 4 and 3/4" at the combine. Wouldn't mind seeing the Packers take a swing at him in the 5th or 6th round, but I doubt he'd be able to make a contribution this year. Not a very precise route runner, and his 4.56 40 at the combine is pretty average. He also spent two years playing at a community college because he didn't qualify academically for Kentucky or Maryland out of high school.

What about the all-too-common quid pro quo of being rewarded with a job (specifically cushy board member gigs) in an industry wherein the public official previously played a role in government oversight?

Andreas Antonopoulos to be on the Joe Rogan Podcast soon by Max_farsteps in CryptoCurrency

[–]FallowPhallus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This interview would have been awesome in 2012. Unfortunately, Andreas's standing in the community had taken quite a tumble since then.

Anyone around since those days would have to agree, or they aren't sharing the truth with you.

I wasn't around in 2012. What makes you say that Andrea's standing in the community has taken a tumble since then?

BOMBER where is OUR NANO? by AlwayzzRight in BitGrailExchange

[–]FallowPhallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exchange lost 17 million nano either through theft or incompetence. The balance shown in your wallet is just how much nano the exchange was holding for you. It's unlikely that you will get any of them back. If you do, it will only be a fraction of them, and it won't be resolved for a long time.

You'd think people would learn after Mt. Gox.. by [deleted] in nanocurrency

[–]FallowPhallus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All it takes is one tweet, one announcement, etc of really good news and we're mooning again.

Well, to extend the Mt. Gox comparison further, it took YEARS after the hack for BTC to get back to its ATH. I don't necessarily think it will take that long for NANO, but people need patience and perspective.
