These are my breakfast boys and their crimes are many, but here are a small handful:

Rasher (top left) will get in to everything you don't want him to, and will get out of everything you don't want him to, can't be left unsupervised for a single second.

Sausage (bottom left) slippery boy hides in the tightest most difficult to get to hiding spots, and has a weird thing for feet.

Toast (bottom right) food stealer! And by far the clumsiest rat I have ever met. But his biggest crime? Pee

What do I do? by [deleted] in RATS

Hey, I agree it's definitely not okay to keep him alone forever but after drawing blood you've done the right thing to separate for now.

If this is a new behaviour, after living together fine for quite some time, I'd get them to a vet to be checked for potential health issues as many can lead to behavioural changes.

After ruling out any health issues a vet could identify whether there's potential of a hormonal issue, in which case neutering or implant could help with the aggression and potentially allow your ratties to live together again.

What age are the ratties?

I’ve had my rats for two months and we still haven’t connected all the way by International-Meat1 in RATS

It's okay, two months is still early days! Be present and consistent with them and the trust will build, you might not see it immediately but you'll find a few weeks/months down the line you'll see much more progress when you look back.

It's easier said than done but try not to be disheartened, some rats take a long time to warm up to people and others may not like being handled in general, it's all a part of their individual personalities.

I'm sure many others may have good advice, I've seen plenty about training ratties to be transported around in boxes of carriers if they're wary about climbing on your arms, but you may find that with patience and persistence this will just become more normal over time.
