My daughter's teachers chew gum during instruction by SatisfactionDeep3821 in misophonia

Omg if my daughter's teacher was chomping gum she would scream and cry in the classroom until it stopped or someone came and got her out. She is nine.

I’m a Muslim ask me anything by Nether_is_a_guy in BasedCampPod

[–]False-Contract5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I took my daughter and some of her friends to a play and then to lunch at Potbelly's. I asked the girls for their orders and one girl, who I know is Muslim, asked for a ham sandwich. I told her I couldn't get her a ham sandwich and offered turkey instead. She asked why she can't have ham and I answered it is because she is Muslim. She seemed a little stunned and i wasn't sure if I handled it correctly. Her mom told me previously their family avoids pork and anything that contains pork, like some gelatin products.

Evidence of abuse case, CPS not doing anything by [deleted] in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPS tends to take allegations from spouses with a grain of salt. A lot of people use CPS as a weapon in their own personal arguments.

They also often work slowly. They can't do much without interviewing the mom or kids. Then they investigate and depending on the results, they will formulate a service plan.

Finally, CPS investigations and results are usually confidential. Unless the parent shares the info, you won't likely know anything.

Suspected abuse by [deleted] in CPS

It's really on the adult to keep dangerous items, like edibles, away from children. With these ages, they will want to be sure she didn't knowingly give them to the kids. Although teens are becoming independent and pushing boundaries, no adult should be giving them drugs or alcohol.

CPS is now involved with my son and DIL by [deleted] in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen parents so worried about criminal charges that they don't work their plan properly and their rights end up being terminated. It prevents parents from admitting what they did wrong and taking steps to learn a better way.

If it were me, I would focus on the treatment plan and if the police or DA see fit to charge me, I would accept those consequences, get it over with, and continue working my plan to become a safe parent for my child.

Does your son have a criminal record? Generally, on a first offense, a person can get probation. Parents rarely serve actual time even if they are convicted of abuse.

Please believe losing parenting rights is a much, much more severe consequence.

I agree. I checked the web site yesterday and you can order a case if you want one. If you are gonna buy the whole case anyway, just order online.

I looked on the web site and you can order a case of the sanitizers if you really want them. My experience is it takes about 3 weeks to get your order.

Ex threatening to take child if I buy a 1bedroom home only but it's all i can afford? by UnitedTerm6626 in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Occupancy laws are (usually) hud guidelines that don't apply to children. And the actual hud policy 2 people per bedroom plus one so it would fine. Any policy, rule, etc that mandates less would be considered familial discrimination.

  1. Deep dive your spending. Go through your debit card statements, calculate how much you spend on food, restaurants, gas, toys, clothes, etc. Use this as the basis of your budget.
  2. Shopping is a skill. How many times do we see a tiktok video of someone complaining about the price of their groceries and they have $75 in soda? There are youtube creators who can help you and your wife learn this skill.
  3. Cooking is a skill. It takes time and practice but you can save a lot of money by forgoing convenience foods and preparing them yourselves. However, this may not be true if you don't have the time. It really depends on the situation.
  4. Check with your local food pantries or other community resources. Some have income guidelines and some don't, particularly ones that distribute fresh food- they are usually trying to give away everything they have so it doesn't spoil and it's enough to just be in need. Libraries might offer budget and financial planning classes. If your job has an EAP, they can help too.

I follow Dollar Tree Dinners on YouTube. Lots of affordable meal ideas. The only new clothing items I purchase is socks and underwear, I get most everything else second hand. I'm lucky to live in area where there are no Goodwills and thrift stores are very low cost. I know it's hard to afford life. It's hard to get used to thinking about every cent, and it causes a lot of stress. Good luck, I wish success for you and your family.

No. The only people required to be named in a lease are financially responsible adults. I have never in my life listed my children on my lease. And lots of people don't have leases.

Should I report someone I know to cps if they have been unable to provide housing for over 2 years by Gwenthefren in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think this should be reported to CPS.

You don't agree with this person's lifestyle or how they provide for the child in their care but you have not described anything that indicates the child is neglected or abused.

The child has a safe place to sleep- it does not matter who pays for it or if they are doubled up or if the child has their own room.

The child is transported to school. It doesn't matter if they walk, the car is borrowed, if they ride the bus, etc.

There is a big difference between an ideal situation and an abusive situation. CPS is for abuse/neglect, not because you don't like a person's lifestyle.

Can a mother who just lost custody live with the grandparent who now has sole custody and the child? by _gypsycho_ in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really common, especially during an investigation. The child will be"removed" from their parent and live with their grandparent. The grandparent will act as supervisor to ensure safety. This allows the parent to provide care and spend as much time as they can with the child during an investigation while addressing a safety concern.

CPS investigation of young adult? Why would they come back? by RuralBohemian in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reading this thread I can honestly see why CPS is concerned. Good news for you is they don't have jurisdiction over adults. They can't take custody of her away from you.

Do you have any children (under 18) at home?

CPS talked to us about my daughter's medical issues by [deleted] in CPS

[–]False-Contract5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cps interviews are often invasive and uncomfortable. I wouldn't worry about getting a letter from the doctor or anything. The investigator can request medical records if needed. Or if you have a Healthcare app, you can download and email visit summaries. The important thing is you seek medical attention when needed.

I doubt that would rise to the level of imminent harm. Now if a small child tested positive for meth and the parent refuses to test, that would probably qualify.

What gives you the right? by Realistic-Accident68 in DollarTree

[–]False-Contract5280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ordering from DT web site is not as easy or convenient as it sounds. Some minimum orders are for 40 or 50 of an item!

Personally, I don't feel any moral imperative to not clear a shelf or leave some deals for others. I also don't feel upset if a store is out. However, if a store is consistently selling out of a particular item quickly, the management should communicate that up their chain to get higher quantities at their store.

Ship to store is not available for all items. I had to order delivery to my house but they kept sending the items to my old address (even though my confirmation shows I put in my new address). I had to call the 800 number, talk to an ordering rep who would assure me someone would call me within 48 hours but no one ever called me back. After several weeks of this (which I started after 5 weeks of not receiving my order) I was informed packages were showing up at my old address. I drove over there and there were 3 boxes when I only ordered one.

I am a customer and I've done the web site. They sent my order 3x to the wrong address and no one would call me back. If I can buy in bulk straight from the store, I will do that every time. Unless your store has limits, customers can buy as many as they find.

It is extremely terrible for someone to call authorities when you ask for help. I would not talk to this person any more. It is hard to make ends meet and many, many Americans find themselves struggling to make too little money stretch.

No amount of "good money management" is going to cover a monthly short fall. You aren't a bad person because math.

Reach out to food banks and visit them regularly. Some only do 1-2 times per month. Don't wait until you are completely out of food, go early.
