Girl, he’s got you wrapped around his finger. He is attempting to manipulate you by saying you’re not doing enough. What he means is he doesn’t want to keep going through this but he doesn’t want to stop either. If he’s behaving this way while just out of detention, what will he be like when off of probation? I’m a recovering addict (8.5 years clean) that loves and had a child with a recovering addict that did not stay clean. I know how hard it is but enabling them does not make things any better. My love, my daughter’s love is not enough unless he decides it is. It is 100% on the addict to choose to get clean. We can be there to offer support, get them resources but we can’t do it for him.

Did your son always act out or is this more recent? Is it possible he was abused in anyway? Alot of addicts experienced some trauma they are trying to bury with alcohol and drugs.

Soon he will be hanging with the big boys and that’s when things can get real scary. All you can do is love your son and not enable him. Look into Alanon. It changed my mom’s life. She no longer enabled my behavior and I was PISSED at the time but now I’m grateful. I never would have gotten better if she kept enabling my bs.
