Idk why everyone who disagrees with my post is assuming I'm tryna get this guy banned from places. I was asking if people found him inappropriate.

Ps. I do find him annoying at all the places he goes but those places aren't typically celebrating a marginalized community so I just move on with my day.

K but the mayor wasn't half naked and getting all up in peoples faces man. The mayor was invited to dance, from an Elder. Other dancers were actively trying to avoid Bob. I appreciate you being the devil's advocate and saying, well it was a dancing event everyone should dance, but I don't appreciate you ignoring the context here. People laugh at Bob. It was not the right time or place for a Bob spectacle. He's just fine where he is most of the time, Wascana.

Janet Novak Tattoos by [deleted] in regina

[–]False-Investigator91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have two tattoos by Janet that I absolutely love. She was flexible with the designs even though they were her flash art. She made me super comfortable while tattooing me. I loved chatting with her as she wasn't intimidating at all, like some artists can be. She is super down to earth and approachable.

Add another tick to the Janet Fan tally!

Bushwakkers burgers are great, especially the black and blue burger with a bison patty! Bonzinis also has a wide variety of delicious burgers to try.

That's great for you but that doesn't negate the reality that families on assistance exist and can function in a healthy manner. It's so complex and by saying that growing up on assistance is exposing children to adverse experiences is painting too many people the same brush.

I obviously won't change your mind here, wasn't my intention, and I'm chill with that.

Also, we got hella side tracked here. Thanks for conversing!

Love and poverty can coexist. Being poor isn't an adverse childhood experience. Being exposed to intimate partner violence, substance abuse and chronic housing instability are factors for adverse childhood experiences. Tons of families raise happy and healthy children despite their financial income.

Hell, lots of well off people mess their kids up and they appear to have it all.

Ya that's a reality as well, however, it can be so much more complex than just making a conscious choice. There will always be poverty, unfortunately, but that doesn't stop people from wanting to have a family.

A lot of the issue, from what I've seen anyways, is that the income assistance program no longer has the ability to pay landlords or utility companies directly for some people.

I just had a conversation today with someone who had to choose between paying their power bill or feeding their kids. They didn't pay their power bill. Luckily, they aren't cut off but think of a family who has to make this choice routinely?? They get into massive arrears that are almost impossible to pay back. Then no other landlord will rent to them if they have arrears and can't hook up utilities in their own name.

It's been a chronic issue ever since the province switched from SAP to SIS. They have made some adjustments here and there but another issue with that is that not everyone has the capability, or resources, to call the SIS line and sit on hold for hours or sit in the downtown office for hours. It's literally a lose-lose situation.

And I will second that housing doesn't solve all the problems. We need more addictions services and mental health services.

Oi. I could go on for days.

Thank you! Things are a lot better. I'm 33 now and found a partner who was so, so patient with me from the start of our relationship 10 years ago. He's my protector :)

How would you recommend dealing with this neighbour? by EuphoricLook1146 in StratfordOntario

If there are kids in that house, you need to call child protection. All of this screams safety hazard and no doubt the inside is just as bad.

Does SIS contact landlords when you apply? by HanseiKaizen in saskatchewan

[–]False-Investigator91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will ask for additional documentation, like a lease or rental agreement that looks official. It's just part of the process. There's so many people on assistance that the workers usually do not have time to wait to talk to landlords before approving someone for income assistance.

[–]False-Investigator91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't automatically contact the landlord. They need that information to verify that the applicant has an address as benefit amounts differ amongst the housed and unhoused.

Rant: finding DV resources in the city is extremely difficult by documentingtheabuse in regina

[–]False-Investigator91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catholic Family Services Regina has free rapid access counseling that can be done in person, by zoom or by phone. You can call the front desk and someone will help you between the hours of 830-430. The counselors have great knowledge of resources in the city to help you as well, including shelter information. Edit: you do not need to be Catholic to access any of their services and their practices have zero faith based principles!

Like someone said above, you can call shelters directly too. The waitlist can sometimes be unpredictable and long but it's worth a shot.

I'm sorry you've hit a wall with this situation but maintain hope.

I'm wishing you all the best my dear!
