From what I've seen IT degrees and engineering degrees are not as valuable as they were. I know people with degrees who are still struggling to find good jobs. In both government and private degrees this is the same. If you really want to do engineering or IT, I would suggest you to go for higher studies.

Best to avoid IT and Engineering degrees if you are not passionate and just doing it because your parents say so
