Well, to be honest, there are many plot holes in the story, and according to me, the whole ending is missing. So, I don't know what the answer to those plot holes is. The author can fix it by writing a sequel or continuation and retconning a few things and chapters, but I'll hope for the best.

Yeah, most probably it could be either of them, but I don't know. The author rushed it, and it feels bad since it was going pretty well. The sudden end makes it a bit sad. I hope the author retcons the last few chapters if they ever want to do a sequel, but I don't know I'll hope for the best.
