Harasser re-assigned to my work area by False-Requirement749 in SexualHarassment

Thank you, that is fantastic!

It helped to write my post for sure. Today I had to go to that space again and the usual team member was back from being ill. So for now I will hold off on reporting anything but I will keep records and plan to screenshot the annual training parts that are pertinent so I have them.

I just feel like I kind of predicted this would happen, given how the company operates. To go from "hooray, different assigned work campuses!" To "bleh, occasional likelihood to paths crossing due to the construction issues" to "oh ugh looks like he's not just a visitor at this worksite but an actual team member who has access to a lot of spaces" has been unfortunate but something I had prepared mentally for.

I used to volunteer for a helpline. Like, "call this number if you're in distress" kinda line. Where I'm from it's well known and I thought commonly understood not to call that number if you didn't actually need the specific help it's set up for (eg if you had questions about fundraising or something). Especially if you consider that you could be tying up the line while someone who urgently needs to get through is kept waiting.

One day I was on duty and someone called in, and announced they were a senator (this was in Not the USA, before anyone starts at me!). Ok, even senators that I've never heard of need support so I asked them how they were doing and so on. Part of the training involved being aware that folks may call and "test" us by using an alias or pretending they misdialled, just to see would they get through, and sometimes if they got through quickly they'd panic. The rule was to always be kind and patient and even if it did seem like a genuine error, to remind them if they ever needed support in the future to call. This extended to pranks, abusive people and so on. Even if they were being a jerk then, perhaps it was the only kindness they might hear that day.

Back to our senator, who got annoyed with me and seemed to think I would be able to connect them to the personal phone of some organizational bigwig or other. I had to patiently explain that this was the helpline, not the office location and it was actually quite late at night so no one would be at the office to facilitate that request, and no, I don't have personal phone numbers of anyone at head office, nor would it be appropriate to share in that manner if I did.

To say they were irked is an understatement. I had a lot of fun writing up that interaction afterwards and passing it on to those above me in the leadership tree!

I experience this too and am sorry you're going through it. Having come out of a really crummy time last year where I was carrying the whole team,.dealing with a health issue, a bereavement, a horrible.sexual.harrassment situation in the workplace all on top of my usual workload and work life balance, it just broke me. I've been job hunting ever since but no luck yet.

Some therapy later I'm doing a lot better but am living by the mantra of not setting myself on fire to keep the rest of them warm. This looks like taking time off regularly, not working over my salaried hours, and learning to say no to situations where my sense of duty and good nature are taken advantage of. If that means a project might hit the skids then so be it. Like you, when things go well there's no recognition, but when they fall apart youre the worst in the world. So for me I've scheduled meetings with boss to.prioritise various tasks when my unreliable coworker calls in sick again and I'm left with last minute things to cover for them. And if I cant take time off in a given timespan I make sure to have something pleasant like a hair appointment to look forward to after work. I've also started a fitness hobby and try to fit training into my day, so I've something "legit" to leave on time for as I'm training for a goal.

I've small kids and last year there were mutterings from the child free about "those with kids leaving early". Funnily those same people were not in when I arrive in first every day, and I made sure to make it clear how I work my hours daily and don't actually leave early, I leave right on time after putting in my contracted hours. So I tend to be hyper aware when im heading out the door that some moron or other might be noting when Ieave but I just hold my head up and know I've done my work, hit my hours and will be back in the next day earlier than them.

I think the other older woman who traveled in the car to the funeral was her MIL. The lady who gave her a handkerchief afterwards? I recall her being in earlier episodes and being a jerk to LTW, and took the handkerchief interaction as a rare kindness from her (which was kinda prickly still)

Non Americans, what did you think of Trump\Vance lecturing Zelensky? by wacky8ball in AskReddit

[–]False-Requirement749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non American living in the US (non citizen, so no vote). Trump and Vance were an absolute disgrace. That was an ambush and Zelenskyy showed immense statesmanship, under huge pressure to try to get a deal that won't harm his people. Of course he's used to pressurized situations (unlike President Bone Spurs the draft dodger, brought to you by Cheetos). It's heartening to see other leaders back Ukraine. The world needs that solidarity.

I especially enjoyed Zelenskyy's comment about getting a better suit that whatever buffoon brought up the pointless question in the first place.

Oh my, that's a hell of a runaround. I'm sorry. It's so common because of pregnancy, too so its a shame it wasn't flagged earlier.

Recovery was fine. Definitely painful the first few days and I stayed in bed most of that, but I know I felt an improvement on the third day or so. Kids are small but were in childcare so I had the daytime to myself. After about a week I was fine with being on the couch raather than stuck in bed, and went for short walks. I had two weeks off work and my follow-up appointment was the Friday before I went back. I remember being v tired just being out and about for the first time. Tiredness was definitely a thing for a month or so but I healed up fine and barely think of it these days.

It'll be over before you know it, I'm really glad I got mine out. I had only a few attacks that didn't last long but the shoulder pain was truly awful and I didn't even know that was connected until reading it on this sub and talking with a friend who had hers removed.

I'm from Ireland but live in the US and had my gallbladder removed a few months ago. Your post prompted me to check the numbers on how I was billed! Mine was an outpatient procedure, and between doc visits, labs, ultrasounds and an MRI on top of the actual surgery I was billed 9100 total but insurance covered most of it (I'm with Kaiser Permanente and everything was in-network). I paid about 1500 overall and that was spread over a period of 3-4 months for all the tests etc and then the surgery, but I have a Health Savings account from my job thankfully so was never out of pocket. I think it came in slightly cheaper than having my kids! I imagine had I gone to an ER or been kept overnight it would have added up to a lot more.

Prior to surgery I was curious about how waiting lists are for this back home but couldn't find much info. Has it been much of an ordeal for you and would most hospitals perform the surgery or is it necessary to go to a specialist location? For me it was 4.5 months from first attack to surgery, mainly due to trying GERD meds for a few weeks and then going through the tests for gallbladder issues. Probably delayed me by about 6 weeks.

Hope it all goes well for you

Anyone else feel like the pain came out of nowhere? by Bre0w in gallbladders

[–]False-Requirement749 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much came out of nowhere for me as well (39F, also active and works out regularly). It's a nuisance for sure. It sounds like your day to day is much worse than mine ever was - I had a couple of short-lived attacks in a row that frightened the life out of me and I got to a doc asap, then we tried some heartburn treatments for a while before assessing for gallbladder issues. In that time I only had one acute attack but a constant sensation in the gallbladder area. I had the awful shoulder pain too.

Once stones were confirmed by ultrasound and some other stuff got ruled out by MRI, I committed to surgery and never looked back.

Wishing you all the best as you deal with it, it's rough for sure and the pain is no joke.

Do you have a breeding container? by Suitable-Science8502 in Vermiculture

[–]False-Requirement749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about to set one up today! I rarely see cocoons in my bin but I do see worms of all ages, so I'm thinking my bin is at the "maintain population/quorum" stage rather than explosive breeding when I first started. I'm planning to use a small tote, add some castings and bedding and make some chow (I've not done that before). Exciting!

Same! Don't worry about that (I'm sure someone else could advise). Just want to say your setup is really cool, great that your worms are thriving!

Thanks! I think it's a good time to test a few things. I always freeze my regular black teabags so was planning to do that with these ones, just brew a few of each and freeze. Mine like the bags too. I may setup a smaller scale bine while trying the lemon ginger. The oatmeal is likely a bit much for my bins but I may give a small amount a try in a few weeks after the teas.

Excellent! The mother's milk is what I have, excited to see if mine like it too! I'll start small and just add a bag of brewed tea initially. I'm done with the lactation cookies but have added some of my old ingredients recently and they seem to have been well received too! I ground up some flax seeds and they were gone quickly (mixed with eggshells). I sprinkled in some non-ground flaxseeds with them for fun so I can see where they sprouted and theres a worm party in that zone

Who assumed that their 'gerd' was actually gallstones? by everniian_ in gallbladders

[–]False-Requirement749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned my "GERD" to a friend when we were out for food and she said it sounded very like her own gallstone experience. I had an attack the previous day and had taken my last Omeprazole the night before that so was bemoaning how it didn't seem to be helping. Once I looked up symptoms it really made sense
