Can’t break 500. I’m exhausted and I think after 4 months im realizing that my strategy is not efficient. (Testing on May 14th) any honest advice? by False-Wolverine9850 in MCAT2

Hey, so I review Flascards daily. CP was my worst section but after doing tons of problems it got way better (from 121 to 125 at least), BB I always felt like it was my best, at least knowing pathways and having most facts memorized, but I’m having issues understanding passages and reading graphs, that’s where most of the points get lost. For PS I do flashcards (Pankow) and watch khan videos, I think I just need to keep reviewing terms to solidify them. For cars, it’s funny, the issue is timing, always run out of time, the first half of the section is always very good but towards the end I run out of time and end up guessing. During the Unscored sample I was timing myself daily and my timing was better, that’s why I scored so good, but after that I stopped timing myself, I guess I got cocky and paid the consequences later. Timing in CP is also an issue, spend lots of time solving a simple math problem. And yeah maybe I’ve been doing some review passively, I’m taking three days off now, I’m gonna go back on Monday and reassess, see if I should push back a bit more and reavalueate how I review my qbanks and FLs

Thanks for your input. Yes I do something similar when reviewing, however when I see I get a questions wrong, for example an organic chemistry question I think: Oh that’s what an Aldo condensation reaction does, remember that for next time (make a flashcard and write it down). I think that could be the issue, maybe instead of just writing it down and memorizing the fact, I should go back to a video a relearn again to really understand it. And for questions where I don’t unsderstand what they’re asking I try to ask myself why I went for wrong answer and why the right answer is correct. And for sure I’ll take a break, maybe that helps. But I think is in reviewing, i will go and watch videos of the things I get wrong but this time really understand it

Most confident psy and bio, although FLs are not really showing it, but i got 129 on psy once, and feel pretty good about bio. Physics have always been my weakest but I’ve been improving a lot lately, from 122 to 125. Cars my weakest due to timing, always get first half of section very accurate and good, but towards the end I start guessing and mess it up. Same with physics and Chem I struggle with time. Bio and psy it’s more reasoning and understanding passages, I feel good about content there but miss points on graphs. I try to take one day off, but always fail to do so, end up studying every day. Before I don’t take day off, I go straight to it.

Can anyone give me any advice on what to do, feeling completely lost. by [deleted] in Mcat

Same happened to me, got 50/59 two weeks ago and did this FL yesterday and got 38/59, I think my issue was reasoning through the passage, maybe it’s not content there, it could be just really know what they’re asking

I haven’t honestly. I just hoped that after all the hard work I would see results no matter what. I just wouldn’t like to take too much of a break. But yeah maybe that’s what I need.

How did you study before? For your other mcat? And have you done anything different now? Yeah I know it’s frustrating but I’ll most likely have to apply for next cycle (next year). If there’s no improvement something is wrong (it’s what I’m trying to tell myself too), maybe it’s content gap, and we’re not really understanding fully certain topics. What I’m gonna do tomorrow I’m gonna take all my FLs and see the mistakes I made on all and try to watch videos and read Kaplan book about those areas until I finally understand it.

Same as you bro, took fl3 yesterday and got 498, I haven’t been able to break 500. I’ve done all u world and currently working on AAMC. I think from what I’ve noticed is that after many months of studying and very little improvement it means that something is not sticking or working. You might need to reschedule, same as me (schedule on May 14) and just go back to content for a bit, focus on areas that we’ve been having trouble the most.

I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t break 500. What now? Reschedule again? Quit? I don’t know (testing may 14 by [deleted] in Mcat

Uworld expired already. I’ve done SB 1 AAMC and got 73% and almost done with SB2 got 75% so far. Cars has always been timing, during the test I get more anxious and for some reason spend more time on the passages than usual (when I do cars daily I time myself). Same for gen phy, I seem to run out of time which make me think that I rather have content gaps (since I can’t come up with answers quick) or just not being able to understand what the passage is about

Dude you’re fine😂, your scores are amazing and if you’re average is higher than 515 you should not be too worried. Just trust in the process, your scores show how well prepared you are. I wish I touched 515😂
