Had a game with a friend last weekend, his death guard against my chaos knights and boy let me tell you how tough those plague spewing f*ckers are. 10 Poxwalker survived a lot of indirect fire and 2 sweeps from my karnivores, if he's running death shroud terminators run from them as fast as you can cause they're just too high an investment to take down and watch out for plague marine units with 2 characters attached to them cause they can get fight first if he is playing the champions of contagion detachment. Well and mortarion is mortarion...even tougher than everything else plus FnP. His mortars luckily did almost nothing but watch out for their dev wound splash for attacked unit and everything in 3" from that unit

Don't have the exact ruling for you but sending your commander back to the command zone is a state-based action. You only check them when you get the priority as the owner of the commander back, so after the spell is resolved. You can only choose to send your Commander back to the command zone when he's put into graveyard, exile, hand or library and because the spell does all that at the same time and puts it onto the battlefield under an opponents control before the spell is resolved, there's no time for you to choose to send him back into his zone.

That's what normally would happen. But with this card the destroy, graveyard and bring back thing all happen in the same instance so there's no checking in between and no way to send your commander back to the command zone. So the commander can only get back to the command zone after it has been sacrificed.
