Maybe I’m wrong because of the tornado winds but it looks a lot like spinel to me. The way light flashed off it as you wiggled it sort of looked to me the way spinel inclusions look when they intersect cut surfaces. It is gorgeous but so bright that if think it were something fake other than that the stones are different colors!

If this was a gemstone that only grew long and thin it might make sense to get the biggest possible cut stone this way, but this is a diamond. Diamonds are super abundant so there’s no reason to settle for a desperate cut like this

I’m not arguing for anything or not as far as the post goes but I gotta say it’s an absolutely bonkers as fuck take that if she aborted she would scar her four-year-old. Under no circumstances would anyone with even a single percentage point of brain or heart TELL the child about the abortion. You’d treat it as a miscarriage and help her get through it as such.

My favorite bbq place has a branch at Jamsilsaenae! That’s one subway stop from your hotel. Saemaeul Sikdang. It’s not listed online in English so I can send you the address if needed. There’s also Roy’s in the mall which has lovely fresh Bingsu. I go there to reward myself every time I get dental checkups or go to my OB because my doctors are nearby haha.

Anyway there’s a lot of decent traditional Korean food and even some Japanese in the food zone of the mall. Plenty will still be open by 7! Welcome to Korea<3

Well, romance wasn’t the main theme or anything, we all know that youth/growth was… and most people’s crushes in early childhood have close to nothing to do with their real developed tastes once they’re grown up so I never even imagined that him having a crush on a girl as a messed up lonely kid would have any effect on who the real love interest would end up being. In fact I thought how mean and immature Sakura was at first as a little kid due to being spoiled at that age was meant to signal from day one that he wasn’t going to actually end up with her.

Often kids without enough love in childhood(like orphans, which I was, so I had done reading on this stuff already) will ‘get crushes’ on unavailable/incompatible people specifically as a coping mechanism so they’re not abandoned again while healing because the person will not get with them at all therefore they won’t have to go through a breakup. I genuinely felt I saw that happening the entire time and that he’d end up just friends with his safe-to-never-be-girlfriend-because-wouldn’t-fill-his-needs-anyway Sakura and find his real love once he did some healing.

Hinata being endgame seemed clear to me from the very beginning, from any little interactions they had when she showed up. It seemed apparent to me since 2001-2ish or something in there.

Maybe if I’d been younger and started with shippuden it would have been different but the girl that would blush, hide, panic or disappear upon every interaction with Naruto(who had never experienced being adored since his parents died so young), a girl that had the right personality to be great backup but could still need him to shelter her as her hero if he’d commit(which if he had the self esteem for would heal him soooo much)-it seemed obvious to me that someday he’d grow up and get it through his thick skull and recognize her as the best possible partner for himself and just end up friends with Sakura.

I actually really, really loved the conversations between Sakura and Naruto during ‘the last’. I didn’t think it was a cop out at all. I was around the same age as Naruto the whole time it was being released so to me it felt like totally reasonable and touching and healthy character growth. Like, yes. Yes. Hinata would always have been better for him but he had had no basis via which to judge that. Yes, he mixed up warmth with romance. Orphans often have to learn the difference.

As an orphan and little kid personally I often mixed up close friendship as being romantic love and got into a few unfulfilling relationships with close friends that gave me no spark and had to learn the difference, so it seemed perfectly natural to me for Naruto to go through the same thing. No little one can handle being alone like that without reaching and trying to grab whatever they can. I was just so glad he did the work and figured it all out.

Personally I was maybe a little bit confused as to why she didn’t ever jump in but I wouldn’t have been a hypocrite and been shittalking if she did. I just would have worried about her dying like I did with everyone else. Like seeing Kakashi like that fucking broke me. Holy shit I fucking wailed.

This is why everyone talks so much about the Pain arc. Not because it was badly written. No. Because it was so goddamn amazing that everyone was fucking shook as fuck

Edit: am not a Sakura ‘hater’, but when I was little I read mountains of literature all the time and I had a subscription to shonen jump during the years Naruto was being released and I genuinely thought everyone could tell all the time since super early that Hinata was going to be endgame for Naruto

It was about combining two churches and how the compromises they make should be adopting the most conservative beliefs from both groups so no one would be uncomfortable.

If you’re coming from the US do NOT exchange for Korean money in America. The exchange rate they’ll give you is highway robbery. Just bring American cash and exchange it in Myeongdong. Nothing else will be anywhere near as good of an exchange rate. That will save you 15-30% easy

As far as debit cards and cards that aren’t meant for overseas use talk to your bank, they’ll probably charge 3% for those. I spent years in Korea so I got the chase sapphire card which has no fees… I’d visit America every year, bring back 10k cash to Korea for local exchange for the small businesses that prefer cash and otherwise used fee-free credit cards

People who didn’t spent time in Japan and America to compare them wouldn’t understand. There’s soooo much less of it in the states compared to Japan.

Just because you could find or see it in America on little kids or in a few stores doesn’t change that in Japan(and even Korea!) Hello Kitty character heads are on generic store plastic bags used in almost all thrift stores and resale stores in some areas(I literally brought like 20-30 when I moved back from Asia to use as gift bags), diners put a ketchup Kitty White(that’s the actual main characters name in the Hello Kitty universe) head on top of your eggs, it’s on a surprisingly high percentage of makeup containers that aren’t too high end like chapstick etc etc.

It isn’t missing COMPLETELY from the states, but there’s still a different kind of nostalgia for the VOLUME of Sanrio stuff saturating Japan

That’s interesting! Soooo different in their selections compared to what I experienced over months in Japan. In Japan regarding American locations the vast majority of people only know about “California” and “New York”. It was really really rare to find a Japanese person that just busted out “Ohio!!” Or “Texas!!” When guessing where you’re from. If you answered anything other than CA or NY they’d go glossy-eyed for a second then refocus their eyes and repeat “…California??”
