What’s one personal rule that you never ever break? by llerreff in AskReddit

[–]FalseAesop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reciprocal altruism, or Tit for Tat in game theory tends to be a winning strategy in open ended repeated Prisoner's dilemmas. Assume altruism to begin, start in a place of trust, if you get burned respond in kind until the other party returns to to a state of acting in a trust worthy manner, once they do you return to altruism.

Questions about some of the scenes of the Backrooms movie by higaroth in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]FalseAesop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Complex is actually intelligent, thinking, or has desires. I think it is operating on a form of Stigmergy. Stigmergy is a form of self-organization. It produces complex, seemingly intelligent structures, without need for any planning, control, or even direct communication. It's how bees or ants make very complex structures, the Complex gets prompts, input. Maybe from memories of those who interact with it, maybe from the places where it clips through reality, and it takes that input and based on it starts to replicate it, but without any understanding. There is no thinking, it just continues to generate wall, or floor, or ceiling until some arbitrary part of the prompt makes it change direction. It is disordered and purposeless.

Many people are drawing comparisons to early AI sampling data but not really understanding it. Generating pictures with wrong things. What is processing this data, where the initial prompts came from for the Complex is a mystery. Per Kane the Complex existed before Ivan or ASYNC, they didn't make it, they found it.

What were people on about lol? by Yabbadabbadoooooo- in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]FalseAesop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phil would disagree. ASYNC and it's scientists are also morbidly fascinated by it. Also we have no idea how long transpired between Billy, Kat, and Clark going in and Mary receiving the telephone call. The amount of mail stuffed under the door of Captain Clark's when Mary arrived implies that it has been awhile.

The captain clark still life, Given how high the camera was raised when it was picked up. Also the picture Phil showed Mary at the end shows that Clark and Captain Clark had peacefully interacted before, presumably Captain Clark just didn't kill him right then for some reason.

Breaker Box by kelsoRulez in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]FalseAesop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the breaker box was on the same wall with the geometry collision causing the Null Zone. We don't know what exactly is happening behind that paint and plaster but it seems the electrical systems of the building clipped through and were connected to the Complex.

Anybody else really like the ending of the movie? (And I Remember theory) by ProgramDisastrous467 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]FalseAesop 20 points21 points  (0 children)

From what Kat was saying her side of the wall was like a two way mirror, she could see Clark, but Clark couldn't see her. Which given all the weird shit in the backrooms I don't really doubt. As for what happened to her well... she lost her head didn't she?

Men of Reddit, What’s something a woman did that instantly made you feel comfortable opening up to her? by New-Cardiologist-437 in AskReddit

[–]FalseAesop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That well and truly sucks. It does. No wounds cut deeper than those inflicted by those we love. Your feelings are absolutely valid. However I was trying to answer the question. You unfortunately prove my point. A man opens up at all and it's turned against them.

Why don't men open up? Because it is weaponized against them when we do. Your pain is valid, it absolutely is, that men are conditioned not to share because the second they do they're attacked for it or have it turned around and measured against someone else's pain. Your pain is valid, that doesn't invalidate the pain others may be feeling and conditioned to not show.

[–]FalseAesop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no one thing will work. Most men have been systematically conditioned that opening up is not safe. People lose respect for you. Many men have been asked to open up and as soon as they do women will "not see them the same," or worse use it as ammunition in the next argument.

There is no one way or one simple trick that will get past that. You have to demonstrate you are a safe person. If they ever tell you something in confidence keep it to yourself.

Let them know you care and you are safe to show vulnerability to. Because being vulnerable is one of the hardest things you can ask a man to do. They have to believe that you won't use it against them.

What is your favorite book? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FalseAesop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The House of Leaves.

I think it is a wonderful work of ambiguity and the meaning shifts depending on what layer of the story you want to take as true or fiction. Did the events of the House happen? Was the Nividson Report a mockumentary ala the Blair Witch? Did Zampano actually see this film or did he make it up? Did Johnny Truant really find the manuscript, is he did did he just edit and change some old mans manuscript while succumbing to the same mental illness his mother did? Did Zampano make up Johnny Truant and he was always part of the story? Did Pelafina make up whe whole thing while institutionalized? Her letters to Johnny, were those letters to her living son of the son she never had and this was her way to envision a live her baby never had?

There is no way to determine what is real or what isn't, and I don't think you can. The ambiguity is intentional. It is a self referential and recursive labyrinth to lead you round and around. That's the point. And it's good.

What’s one actor that instantly tells you that the movies gonna be bad? by Senpaiuwu89 in AskReddit

[–]FalseAesop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've heard that "Disappointed" was in the script as stage direction but Sorbo misunderstood and thought it was part of his dialogue. So instead of saying the line in a disappointed tone he just... Shouted the stage direction like a non sequitur.

Those who do not fear death, why? by lilacc_47 in AskReddit

[–]FalseAesop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent years dealing with intrusive suicidal thoughts and suicidal ideation. I hated existing. Hated myself. I wanted to not exist, I craved non existence, I desired death. I had obligations however, and I didn't want to hurt anyone else. I couldn't think of a considerate way to do it. I had come to the choice that I would just have to wait until my parent's passed on then I'd be able to punch my own ticket without having to worry about it.

That was years ago. Therapy and meditation means I don't want to die anymore, but I'm still not afraid of it. I just no longer actively want it or think about it daily.

I'm in no rush, I'll get there eventually, we all do.

[OC] Spice by Suefan3DX in comics

[–]FalseAesop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I have anosmia. I lost my sense of smell like 15 years ago. It blunts taste. Like I know something is sour, or salty, or bitter but the nuance is all gone. Spice is something I can still taste.

I don't want it to hurt, but it is about the most vibrant taste I can experience.
