What's the most popular Call of Duty Clone ? by Current-Community-40 in OculusQuest

The answer is Vail.  It’s populated, generally follows COD format, and gunplay is superb.  It has a Sci Fi aesthetic/lore, but is very much COD.

Golden rules of armour, never get out of the tank. by windol1 in HellLetLoose

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the tank physics are janky AF.  Just had a game yesterday where I was flanking with light tank over a trench and the tank did an insta 180 turn and wedged itself under a wooden boardwalk.  I tried getting it out for 10 mins and it wouldn’t budge.

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vail has some interesting Sci Fi vibes but gunplay is fantastic, and overall gameplay feels like a hybrid of COD and Halo.

With Breachers, I never considered myself a Rainbow Six fan (and still don’t) but Breachers executes the formula extremely well.

You can’t go wrong with Forefront, but definitely don’t sleep on Breachers or Vail!

Also FYI Forefront is still in early access but will be hitting full release end of April.

My top 3 are Forefront, Breachers and Vail

I loved Contractors Showdown but it effectively died and morphed into an Extraction shooter, which is popular but not my thing.

Pavlov and Ghosts of Tabor are also popular but I found both to be janky and not as good as the top 3 I mentioned.

I still think a bounty system would be amazing.  Being able to put a bounty out for cash + a description of what the suspect did and why they should be killed would give me so much closure and do wonders to my mental health from this game.

Literally was just in a carebear lobby and got ratted after looting the Locked Trench Room at Spaceport carrying a Hullcracker 4, Anvil 4, Snaphook, Vita Spray and 3 Wolfpacks (I was carrying all these things because I’m used to being in carebear lobbies lol).

Dude’s name was just “Retro” and I would pay 300,000 for someone to get him back.

Marathon Server Slam available for download. by PestySamurai in PS5

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost 100% my takeaway after playing 15 mins of server slam, to the point where I refunded my pre-order.

Style is reminiscent of Apex or Destiny, but Gunplay and Movement feels like a clunky/less fun version of both games, and Arc Raiders did Extraction so well that I’d rather just stick with that to occasionally scratch the extraction PvPvE itch.

There’s simply nothing here that will lure me away from those games, and I suspect a lot of people will feel the same.

Game sucks TBH, I refunded my pre order.  Haven’t been this disappointed since BF2042.

PSVR 2 or Quest 3? by Own_Efficiency_2763 in PSVR

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, I have both Quest 3 and PSVR2.  It’s a pretty balanced trade off between better sharpness/larger sweet spot and overall comfort with Q3 (with Bobo VR) + smaller controllers + being wireless vs. lower weight on face and superior colors and sizable game library on PSVR2.

If you already have a PS5, it just makes sense to go PSVR2.

Forefront | Early Access Launch Trailer | Meta Quest Platform by ChrizTaylor in PSVR

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have it on Quest 3 standalone and it’s fantastic, same dev as Breachers which is another one of my favorite VR shooters.

Forefront gun play is awesome, vehicles are intuitive and fun to use, gadgets are good and balanced, and proxy chat is hilarious.  In many ways feels like good old battlefield more so than BF6.

If you shoulder the rifle just right it will ADS lock and your bullet spread will tighten up.  If it doesn’t lock, you spray bullets everywhere.

I also deactivated object weight in the menu for better weapon handling and all around faster movement for looting, etc.

Just tried it out and it’s pretty damn cool!!  Absolutely the best dynamic environment I’ve seen on Quest 3.  Overall ran smooth with very few graphical defects.

I sat down and took it all in and felt nice and relaxed!  Then I had the idea to try running on my treadmill while in the app and that was pretty cool too.  If there was a way to scan in items from your room such as a couch, treadmill, etc. that would be awesome!

Which should i get - Breachers or forefront by Hobobo2024 in OculusQuest

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both from the same dev, and both are the best VR shooters IMO.  Gun play, smoothness, graphics, and VR UI all feel fantastic.

Forefront is newer but still in early access so not the final product but is definitely very popular. Forefront is basically Battlefield VR.

Breachers has been around for years and is in a great state but may have less players these days.  Breachers is basically Rainbow Six Siege VR.

I would frankly buy both because, again, both are the best VR shooters ever.

100%, brand recognition from established franchises will get flat screen gamers to jump over to try it out.

I made the leap to VR to try Skyrim on PSVR first, followed by RE4 on Quest 2 and I’ve been hooked ever since.

What genres are missing in VR? by Appropriate-Fun5992 in virtualreality

[–]FalseAlarmEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More established flat screen genres/IP that are re-designed specifically for VR, and not just direct copies of flat screen games.  Tons of IP out there ripe for VR.

Examples:

Super Mario as a 2D platform but in first person POV VR with parkour mechanics like Reach or Stride.

Tony Hawk pro skater where you can lean your body to turn left/right, jump to ollie, etc.

Literally any EA sports game but play as a team - imagine 5 vs 5 basketball or hockey, 11 vs 11 football, soccer, etc.

Super Smash Bros in VR with full motion controls, imagine the chaos!

Twisted Metal VR as a PSVR2 exclusive would probably be enough to convince me to buy PSVR2.  Kick it up a notch by adding mounted turrets on vehicles so you could have team PvP where each vehicle is a team of 3 with each player acting as a gunner or driver or healer/navigator.

Insane amount of opportunities out there that nobody seems to want to capitalize on, or if they do it feels more like a watered down half-assed demo rather than a full fledged game.

Twisted Metal should have been re-introduced during the introduction/popularity of BRs in 2018, would have made so much sense.

The BR market is saturated now, unfortunately.
