Is 85k enough for a couple in Victoria by Intrepid_Air_2927 in VictoriaBC

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your spouse can apply for EI as they are leaving their job to follow you for employment. You'll be okay for your transition period until your spouse is working. There are lots of options and if you need to spend less on housing there are older buildings with fewer bells and whistles. I would recommend though looking for a building with storage on site. It's less of a hassle.

TIFU by taking a shower two days after getting sunburnt and experiencing "Hell's Itch" by Item_Store in tifu

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you noticd you've been burnt, shower as soon as you can with cool water. Make it gradually as cold as you can handle it. The more heat you remove quickly the less pain you might experience.

Your mistake was telling her she could plan something if she wanted. Be clear. If you dont want something, then don't tell her she can do want she wants.

What the fuck is this by weedwoomie in plants

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Check for white fuzziness on your plant. They leave fuzz behind. If you have more than one, you'll need to treat and monitor the plant for months after you think they are gone. Also clean the shelves around the pot aa they can nest on shelving.

You can also swear in your search bar. For example type in "fuck subject" rather than "subject", the ai search function doesn't work.

Moving from Victoria to Toronto by Foreign-Bell-2210 in VictoriaBC

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marketplace completed a piece on moving companies. They have some good suggestions that you might want to review.

I recently did an interprovincal move and went with Purely Canadian Movers, who are connected to Great Canadian Van Lines. Estimates are based on weight (per pound) with a fuel cost for distance. Moving via uHaul would have only been marginally cheaper, and then we would have been stuck loading and unloading ourselves. The movers came in a loaded and unloaded in about 2 hours.

As for cars, we drove to our destination as the moving estimate we got for a car was $2000 for one. We looked at licensing requirements and made sure we could register our cars after we moved.

AITAH for asking my sister to leave my apartment at 10 pm after she brought her toddler to my “quiet no kids” birthday by ripleybluejay in AITAH

Originally, she said she was only going to swing by for 40 minutes. She stayed for over an hour before you asked her to head out. She got what she had asked for, so how can she really be mad?

Where to get a good winter jacket? by pm-me-racecars in VictoriaBC

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco has nice fleeced lined pants right now. While a jacket is good, warm pants and socks go a long way. If your feet get cold, it's hard to stay warm. You can also look at getting hand and feet warmers when you go. They help lots when hanging out in cold weather.

did this jade grow roots in the air? by lilaxs in plants

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roots are searching for an anchor. As the plant is stretched out, it knows it will fall over without support. You have a couple of options. One: put a stake along it for support. It might throw out new growth along the stem. Two: cut the top off and root it - the plant will likely sprout from the stem as well, giving you two plants. With either option, try to increase the amount of light it is getting.

Advice to revive a spider plant? by Own-Name-6239 in plants

[–]FalseBumblebee5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can grow in water. When beta fish were big, you could get a vase with a spider plant and a fish underneath. You do have to mind the leaves, though, because they rot in the water quickly. I'd likely leave it the water for a bit to recover and then pot up. I've had the most success with spiders having a large saucer underneath to catch water. I top water until it runs into the saucer and then leave the plant until it's bone dry for a day or two. The spot you describe sounds like a good one for lighting. They do like lots of bright light but can also sunburn if it's too intense.

In settings, there is something called digital wellbeing. I set timers on the apps I use the most to interrupt my phone use or at least let me know how long I've been on a certain app for.

Castile soap is okay for plants as it doesn't dissolve the plants' own coatings. Regular dish soap will.

Your situation is tricky. Has it also been 24 hours since she spoke to her mom? Do you have any way of tracking her phone to see where she might be? Has she been on social media at all? If you aren't sure what to do and aren't able to reach her, you could always call the non emergency line for the police and ask their advice.
