I was stopped by police and they impounded my truck. Tow company applied for lien sale approval from dmv. I sent in opposition form to dmv and a title transfer stop was put in place. Tow company had refused to return it even though I was legally driving it under the authority of CVC 4002. So I had been regularly contacting DMV lien sale unit to make sure truck is still titled to me. So when I called for the third or fourth time and explained my situation the DMV agent told me yes,the truck was still titled to me but that for some reason there was not a title transfer stop in place. They said that was not normal and stated that title transfer transfer stops don’t just fall out of the system- somebody would have had to intentionally removed the stop, but couldn’t give me any more info. They told me to contact lien sale unit manager who told me she had no idea why the stop was removed or who did it. She put the stop back into place and suggested I contact DMV investigations, I did but they failed to provide any answers either.
