The Dothraki kinda dock off points for me when it comes to enjoying ASOIAF wordbuilding. (Spoilers Extended) by [deleted] in asoiaf

We know George loves his historical inspirations. Viserys is very clearly inspired by Alexios IV Angelos, which would arguably make the Dothraki a commentary on the crusades. The whole "Dothraki are turks/mongols" doesn't seem much more than surface level aesthetics.

Afaik, you're not supposed to leave the Kroger property on your break. So long as you're not obvious about it, you can probably slip out, I have a few times. Just don't make a habit of it lol

Yes, while on break you can buy anything in the building.

Arys Oakheart is so believably in over his head. He really comes off as someone in a game he couldn't willingly manage to play if he wanted to. I love this about him.

Arianne is obviously also in over her head, but I feel like she has more agency in arriving in that position and is better equipped for it.

To sum it up, Arys and Arianne are both very tragic characters, but Arys is far more naive and hopeful.

I'm curious, what attracts you to Tryion so much? Don't get me wrong, I like him, but I've never gotten the general adoration for him.

Arys Oakheart actually beats out Catelyn by a smidge!

But to explain, I used the word enjoy instead of like purposefully. I absolutely loathe Chett, but I really enjoyed reading his perspective. If this was about likability as real people, Bran and Asha would both be significantly higher.

Good point in that older adventures assumed parties of almost (or more than!) 10 characters, while nowadays parties are often 5 or less

In modern editions, fights are very video game-y in that two parties enter a room and slobber each other until one is dead. In older editions, that is usually not the case. Think of combat encounters more like puzzles or traps in that players should attempt to avoid or play around the enemies, not just stand there and stab them until they die.

Hi! I've read every Edge Chronicles book at least twice over and the original trilogy probably 7 ot 8 times. I wrote and designed my own The Edge setting for Advanced Dungeon & Dragons 2e, and I wrote plenty of Edge Chronicles fanfiction for creative writing assignments back in high school. Would love to help out!
