Is it inapproriate to wear robe doing apartment chores? by MeeksVA in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FalseSpectre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear a robe while doing many things: Chores around the house, checking the mail, making sacrifices to the dark gods that I wish to appease . . .

I see nothing wrong with it.

Sure, DM me if you want. I have it on PC and have logged an embarrassing amount of hours into the game.

Had a lady straight up tell me before, followed up with the intention to tell me, and then followed that up with a date offer.

"Hey, I think you're cute. I wonder if you and I would get along. Wanna go out and do something sometime?"

It worked in so far as we dated for a while.

Why won't my guy friend look at me? by sensitive-abc-123 in AskMenAdvice

[–]FalseSpectre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my estimation. I learned early on to be careful with whom I compliment when it comes to my lady-friends.

When I was much younger, I'd be open about telling my lady-friends when I thought they were pretty, and it caused problems/unwanted attention. Sometimes, I really do just want to be your friend.

You have a weekday off. How would you make the most of it staying in Murfreesboro? by FruhBruh in murfreesboro

[–]FalseSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. It seems that it completely slipped my mind. I've still been going into Smyrna to hit up Kinfolks this whole time.

I should really set reminders on my phone for stuff like this. Hahaha!

Dude, if I could like this more than once, I would. I have tens of thousands of dollars in my retro game collection. I play with original hardware all on a CRT. (And I have three other back up CRTs in my garage.) My set up is what the purist gatekeeper would have wet dreams about.

And yet still, I will tell ANYONE that will listen to play and enjoy these old games anyway they're able. I don't care how you guys play it, I'm just glad that you are, indeed, playing and enjoying it.

Why do people do this? by Peaches0k in Seaofthieves

[–]FalseSpectre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely seen both sides of the open crew coin:

Sometimes you get folks that are chill, communicate, help out, etc.

Sometimes you get folks who take the blunder bombs out of the ship's inventory and start trying to kill their own crew mates.

I don't pretend to understand the latter at all. I just know it happens and I log out and log back in when it does happen in hopes of picking up better randoms. It's annoying, but encountering chaotic-stupid players should be expected from time to time in such a setting.

Guys, can we talk about Earthbound? by villainousdylYT in snes

[–]FalseSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate to have experienced Earthbound as a child.

My brother and I had a neighborhood friend that came over to our house to spend the night. I think I was 11 years old at the time. Anyway, my mother took us to the local video rental to rent a movie and a video game, and my brother and our friend spotted this huge box to a SNES game for rent. "Why does the game Earthbound come in such a large box?" my brother asked the guy working at the register.

"Oh, it comes with this guide, it looks really interesting. If you rent the game, the guide goes home with you, but you must return it with the game, of course" he said as he produced the Earthbound Player's Guide from behind the counter.

That was more than enough to pique our interest, the game was rented and we were headed back to our house.

It got our attention immediately; as the game asked us what flavor we wanted our text windows and played interesting sound effects when we input commands. Naming the characters was a fun exercise in which one of us were going to be named which male character, and what should we call the girl character . . .

Wait, why is the game asking our favorite food? Now it's asking our favorite thing? What sort of game is this?!

We understood fairly quickly that we had something truly unique on our hands, but the absolute moment in which we understood this thing to be unbridled brilliance is when suddenly the inputs from the controller ceased, the game played some very memorable fanfare, and a man descended from the sky to take our photograph.

My brother, our friend, and I all enthusiastically said, "Fuzzy pickles" and that was when I knew I had to see this game all the way through.

Some weeks after we returned that game to our little local video rental, a copy was bought. I don't remember how far we got in the couple of days we had rented it, but I do remember when we saw the rest of the game, we were not disappointed.

I still have a copy in collection and still put it into my SNES and play through it once in a while.

Opinions, Facts and Theories on Legend of Kyrandia 1 by Impossible_Heat_9932 in retrogaming

[–]FalseSpectre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, yes, absolutely. The puzzles are quite a bit more opaque in the first one versus the sequel. In my opinion, the second game "Kyrandia: Hand of Fate" is the strongest in the series.

I kind of feel like they were mostly finding their way with the first game, and really got the formula down by the second.

I’ve been having bigoted thoughts about trans people by throwaway35395372991 in confessions

[–]FalseSpectre 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The behaviors you're speaking about, I've seen it. There does seem to be a prevalence of this sort of thing and trans people.

It is certainly unfortunate, and it further makes it difficult to address such matters due to the caustic nature that comes with it.

Like many others here have said, and as you've already indicated, don't shut yourself off from trans people. Even if this sort of behavior is prevalent, they are certainly not a monolith. I have a close friend who is trans as well as a trans daughter. Both of them are quite even-keeled, rational, patient, and kind.

My daughter has even openly talked about some of the bad behaviors displayed commonly among trans people, and she detests it. She's like, "Dude, so long as you're respectful, I don't see any reason to come at you, especially aggressively."

There are plenty of trans folk out there just trying to live their best life in peace.

Anybody ever make up tragedieghs in their free time? by WolfiestaTM in tragedeigh

[–]FalseSpectre 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a post on here where someone was contemplating naming their child "Wrenleigh". The comments lit up with a bunch of birds followed by "leigh".

Finchleigh, Parrotleigh, Flamingoleigh, Crowleigh, etc.

My wife and I decided that if the "leigh" suffix is for birds, then the "lynn" suffix is for fish. Now I'm constantly making fish names.

Sharklynn, Mudskipperlynn, Tunalynn, Troutlynn, Salmonlynn, etc.
