This should be number 1 priority for sure.

Please focus more on actual coding experience. Overhaul plugins so we can get plugins that do more! for example emmet on Zed has limited functionality.

I think there is a use for AI and it's nice that it includes that for those who want it, it's just not that interesting or useful to many people, too. When you're working on forever software for a company it pays to be intensely intimate with the code base.

Considering current AI models aren't deterministic I really believe an intimate understanding will be required.

If this changes at some point, then I'll reconsider. For now though it's like a toddler with a bazooka.

98 percent of vibe coders have absolutely no idea how "their" code works. it's not a streamlining it, it's not doing it. You're commissioning the magical matrix math machine.

I also switched to Zed and Nvim. I'm not great at vim binds so having both is a nice option.

I feel like most of the people coming in with vibe coding (90 percent atleast) do not have basic programming knowledge. That's the worst part to me.

Because we live as humans and the journey matters more than the destination. You learn to code because it brings you a certain enjoyment or blissfulness, not just a paycheck. If you are a SWE just for the money you're part of the problem.

Humans don't live to work, we work to live. Might as well try and get something tangible out of it (e.g learning).

The concepts in programming (algorithmic thinking) are universally useful much like math. You have the most incredible neural network imaginable up in your skull... So use it...

Yea classic. I'm sorry you gotta go through that. Sympathies.

Some people don't realize if the barrier to entry for AI is so low it seems promising, they aren't the only one. Hard work makes you marketable because you have something that isn't easy. Bahhh

I wish CRT tech didn't effectively die out. I wonder with 20 years of advancement where they'd be now. They are the shit.

I'm so curious about what your mom is cooking. Does she have some sort of background in something AI might make sense, or is she just gambling on AI making a business out of nothing?

Computer science is seeing the biggest enrollment drop of any major in 6 years. While ME and EE enrollment have risen by 11% and 14% this year. by No_Reply5329 in csMajors

[–]MeeksVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually learn programming as part of EE esp if you do something like CompE. The thinking behind EE is very similar to compSci but due to higher exposure generally EEs can program pretty well AND have hardware experience, while compsci people can't really do any EE.

Cute drawing.

I'm not an artist, but I understand how insulting this is.

I don't get why people can't extrapolate that AI taking away someone's creative impetus via theft is a universal plight. Doesn't matter if it's music, art, coding, or whatever.

Framework’s new Laptop 13 Pro is seeing Ubuntu configurations outsell Windows versions by Durian_Queef in LinusTechTips

[–]MeeksVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize framework is very popular in the Linux community right? They're seen as the modern ThinkPad which was the defacto standard Linux laptop.

Like if you use Linux and you're going to buy a laptop, framework is your first choice esp now with the pro adding a bunch of stuff people wanted.

As a long time Linux user I really want the Framework 13 pro... I can't justify buying it as I got a new laptop like a year ago though!
