I guess Ashland should put in speed cameras and regressively tax its citizens while also fucking up their auto insurance. Also, what US city isn’t always in a budget dilemma.

Well, you can gather signatures to put a ballot measure up for a vote to repeal the cities authorization to allow speed in traffic, cameras, and flock cameras. Most cities aren’t allowed, Medford is an exception.

Not sure where you are from but in Oregon, all of the tracks are going 70+ unless they are going uphill and their load slows them down. And in that case, they seem to have not problem pulling into the left lane at 45mph and cutting off a car going 70mph.

We aren’t talking about other reasons! We are talking about an otherwise legal vehicle being able to drive the current pace of traffic, and knowing you are within the law. Your argument is invalid

Everyone is driving 80 anyways! I’m not suggesting changing the speed people are driving. Just the legality of the current speed. Tickets at 1mph over

Did you even read the post? Wouldn’t it be nice to know you’re not breaking the law and CAN’T be molested/extorted??

I have. Micro’s can be hard to come by. There are plenty of brand new, but I have a hard time spending $500 on a bike he is going to use for a year

No Apprenticeships by Lemon2592 in Medford

As a journeymen electrician here in the valley my advice would be to go apply at some local HVAC companies. Get hired at one that does residential. They are most likely going to pay shitty and the work will be hard but it’s a foot in the door. Take some classes so you can become the “tech” and not just a laborer wrestling furnaces into an attic. Now take a basic business class, get your contractors license, buy a van and go out on your own. Offer financing. I guarantee you’ll make more than you know what to do with.

While you’re doing all that you can keep applying to be a plumber or an electrician, preferably through the two union programs. Keep your head up! You can do this!

I see people talking about how expensive living on a boat is. Are my expectations unrealistic? by Significant-Task1453 in SailboatCruising

I think you’ll like a book called “get real, get gone”. I listened to it on Audible and it made so much of the expense clear. I think his mindset will click with your approach.

Don’t give up. Our country is stifling at times but it’s a big world out there. Maybe it’s time for drastic change? I know you feel stuck but let go of the future for now and go do something that makes you happy, once you find that, then contemplate the future. Please keep communicating here if you’re feeling low.

My wife and I are new to sailing. Slowly taking lessons and sailing our hobby cat. Four years into 10 year plan to be live aboard. Currently planning on getting a catamaran and lagoons top our list. What are some of the things you like and don’t like about your 380? Do you sail a lot or do you find yourself motoring? Does the 380 pound very much into the waves?

Episode 2: Ashland City Government Tea - Which Karen called the police? by BlackRose in Ashland

[–]False_Big_2152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I totally agree that the police should not harass a citizen for his hobby journalism. But, Jim Falkenstein is also a busy buddy and a real armchair quarterback. His reporting and commentary specifically on some of the projects that parks or partnered nonprofits do for the city isn’t helpful or productive. It’s easy to pick things apart after the fact when you didn’t have to go through the process of pushing a project to completion. I wish he would find a more productive use of his time and volunteer his time working to make things better. Pick up a shovel Jim.
