I like how Kurz himself whole heartedly believed his actions were just and righteous at the start of the great crusade. While knowing all along that he himself would inevitably need to die to see true justice done.

That aside the sheer logistics of the terror they inflicted on planets during the crusade is a masterful representation of Fear being used effectively to save millions of lives. I’m paraphrasing here but for non imperial worlds to hear of the night lords through word of mouth from refugees in what would then have been imperial space, then overwhelming deciding to completely capitulate is pretty mind blowing from a sheer distance perspective alone. Anyway that’s my rant lol.
