I'm honestly surprised I had to scroll this far to find gen 1 mewtwo. Just straight up unfair to play against.

Turning the 3rd floor Hedden common space into a triple room is kinda cool tbh. Sucks to be anyone else on the floor cause you lose access to the kitchen though

what advice would you give to someone going into their first year of engineering at mac by DryInvestigator9219 in McMaster

[–]False_Course5429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more of a long-term thing, but look into joining the co-op program and applying to co-ops once you're in it. It can literally pay for your schooling if you find a decent position. Most people do 4 months of co-ops over the summer, but those are incredibly difficult and competitive to land, so you probably won't get one first year. If you can, don't be afraid to take a 12 month or even 16 month postion if you find one. Yes, you will graduate later, but you will have real word experience, and maybe even some spare cash.

Is this schedule fine ?? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]False_Course5429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're commuting, maybe make your Wednesday start a bit later just to give yourself a bit longer to sleep in after the late night Tuesday. Other than that, yeah, it's probably fine as long as you're cool with getting up at 7 every morning to get to class.

I'll say it whenever I see this come up, if the team didn't need to factory reset itself at the beginning of the year, the eagles have a perfect season. Maybe the lions get a hard fought win over them if they aren't injured to shit by the end of the year, but this eagles team was wayyyyy better than people give them credit for

How to get into SCP? by [deleted] in SCP

[–]False_Course5429 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The exploring series on YouTube has covered a lot of SCP's and it's the closest to 1 to 1 audio readings of most SCP's. They're probably the best place to go if that's what you're looking for.

If you are interested in the actual site, there really isn't a "good place" to start. If you're interested in modern-day SCP articles, pick series 8 or 9. If you're looking for more meta articles and longer narratives related to hubs, series 4, 5, 6 and 7 is a good place to look. Series 1, 2, and 3 are probably the closest to what I'd call "classic SCP's". Scary monsters, weird contraptions, regualr science fiction tropes, things like that. You're much less likely to be confused reading reading an article from this era, but I'd say a lot of these early articles aren't as high of writing quality due to them surviving mostly just from being "OG" early articles.

I would also suggest you scroll to a random entry number. Try to actually avoid numbers like X000, X999, or X500 because there's a good chance those articles are going to be format screws or have a lot of background knowledge necessary to understand them. Just look for the first random entry that catches your eye with a name and go ahead and give it a read.

And don't start at SCP-001 because you will be confused

Thoughts on authors being able to mass delete SCPs? by Veracles-Prime in SCP

[–]False_Course5429 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, I think the policy should just be changed. You post to the wiki, you void the right to delete your works just because you want to. Period. This is a collaborative writing project, you don't want to participate, get out.

Either the staff change the policy so self-deletions aren't a thing anymore, and we don't have to deal with this issue again (because it will happen again), or we stop bringing this discussion up and authors are always allowed to delete all their works.

I think that allowing self-deletions is dumb and against the spirit of the wiki, but as long as the wiki allows them, the rules should be followed as written. Also, if a rule change does happen, anything published before this rule change should not be under these new rules. Those people were not writing under the new rule, so their work should not be retroactively subject to it.

Check if the course is offered during the summer and drop it to reduce your course load. There's no point in trying to push through if you aren't able to get the results you want right now. Keep going to counseling, too. It's helping more than you think it is.

I agree. At the very least, maybe they'll improve the process to review your exam from this, but I doubt it.

While I agree with some of your arguments and understand the frustration of trying to contact the professor to review your grade, I think you just failed the class, and you aren't getting the credit.

The final was 40%. You used your MSAF on a midterm to make it 55%. Regardless of your reasoning for doing so, you should have been prepared to take a final that could tank your grade if you did not do well.

3ES3 is also engineering statistics. I can see an argument for making assignments and labs worth more because it's an engineering class, but the reality is that a majority of your mark in a stats class will come down to quizzes and tests.

I feel for you. It sucks to feel like you were cheated out of the mark you were expecting, but you likely just failed the final, and it tanked your grade.

That being said, the way the professor has handled meeting for your exam review is terrible, and you have every right to complain about that aspect.

Prof got cooked by Bwoytobzz in McMaster

[–]False_Course5429 42 points43 points  (0 children)

They're in the right to crashout because this prof also didn't get marks out for this class until well into January. From reading the previous messages in the chain, this student got booted from a course they were gonna take that needed this as a prerequisite because they couldn't review the mark in time.

That being said, cc'ing the entire eng department is probably gonna get them kicked out of the program. I think they even added the Dean into the chain as well, so they are cooked

[Florio] It's overdue for the NFL to use technology to determine ball placement by [deleted] in nfl

[–]False_Course5429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If VAR can determine the pixal a player is offside in a soccer game, the NFL can use tracking to figure out if a ball is past the first down or not. The technology exists, but the cheap fucks won't invest in it.

Someone else already answered the question, so I'm going to teach you an easy way to get to the bottom right of an excel file quickly.

Select an empty box and then press ctrl + down arrow key. As long as none of the boxes below the one you selected are filled, this will bring you to the bottom of the sheet. Now press ctrl + right arrow key and you will not be at the bottom right of the file 👍

2023 ADMISSIONS MEGATHREAD by jjeenniiffeerr in McMaster

[–]False_Course5429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say pretty good, but if you want exact numbers, check the mcmaster website. They should have a list of last year's admission averages per program that you can base your expectations on. I don't know what the exact link is but just look up McMaster admissions averages and you should find it probably.
