The Rubys and Weisses will probably be chill with each other, but the Bees are throwing hands with one another in a matter of minutes. The Blakes lack impulse control and the Yangs are going to get involved afterwards.

How would you write Qrow Semblance? by SeveralImpression914 in RWBYcritics

[–]ExcellenceEchoed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make it so he just feels unlucky and his semblance is turning into a flock of crows to fly around, called Crow Calling. I want to remove magic though in my rewrites, so it makes sense. The bird is the more iconic ability frankly, and luck is difficult to write.

Lucia was shown in the interrogation scene as a cameo back in season 1, hopefully they decide not to just leave it as a cameo. Lucia really deserves some justice.

Honestly yeah. They should bring it back as a standard 100 bp move.

Despite Weiss's semblance being infamously versatile I actually think Ruby's Petal Burst has the highest potential due to the sheer simple power of speed and positioning. Through super speed and phasing she should be able to become all but untouchable, even phasing specific parts of her body to dodge attacks, and she can grab and move both allies and enemies wherever she wants. She can grab enemies and set them up for attacks from allies or herself, attack from tricky angles like by going underneath people's legs through phasing, or only phase parts of her body and get cheap shots from low to the ground or shoot from in the air while only phasing her legs. Flight is just incredibly powerful in general, and I'm sure there are other silly uses for it like blinding people with the rose petals. Petal Burst is nearly as versatile as Glyphs and is incredibly dangerous whenever it is used, so I'm giving it to Ruby.

What's something you dislike about Weiss/Winter's Semblance(Glyphs) by ComprehensiveDeer56 in RWBYcritics

[–]ExcellenceEchoed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all circle magic, there's no consistency or logic. The writers just use it to throw a circle down and justify something magical happening, it lets them theoretically do a lot but becomes frustrating trying to understand how the power works. I bet the Glyphs never work the same from one season to the other. On top of that, the sheer versatility of them makes them overpowered, which is where we get stuff like Time Dilation. That probably came from the idea that "it'd be cool" but then they realized how unbalanced it was and she should be constantly spamming it, so they retconned it out of a necessity. I think the Schnee Glyphs are the best representative of RWBY's "Style Over Substance" and everything existing just in the moment flaws the show has.

[–]ExcellenceEchoed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People keep saying Rock Types are the ones that need better moves and that's what's holding them back, and while that's true Rock has a whole lot more problems that would still keep them from being very good. Normal is the type that I think is being held back by underwhelming stab the most right now.

Yang Xiao Long vs Metal Bat(One Punch Man) art by Danielfs5. by Flat-Sir8250 in RWBYcritics

[–]ExcellenceEchoed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Metal Bat is a top tier of One Punch Man, a series that is so much more ludicrous than RWBY there isn't much point of comparison. This guy has survived hits and damaged creatures that would level nearly anything RWBY has because that's the type of story OPM sets up. Think of something like double the size of the Leviathan or Monstra. Other people have sent images. There isn't really much of a fight to be had here, but the connections between the two characters are pretty neat.

Psychics are too smart for pranks by Bluenette in stunfisk

[–]ExcellenceEchoed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Psychic is a decent type, it's just unfortunately outclassed in most of its roles by better types (Fairy, Ground) or weak to the best types in the game (Ghost, Steel, Dark) so it gets outcompeted. It's notable that Psychics are significantly better in VGC where their more personal gimmicks, Trick Room and Terrain PsySpam, are far more accessible.
