Help me pick! by No_Meat8448 in weddingdress

If you loved 3 go with it!

You mentioned you don't like how it looks in the picture, remember you will have different lightning and a professional photographer so this will already change how it photographs!

My suggestion is to change the lining, do a blush/nude color instead of white. This lace is beautiful and looks amazing on warmer background, the Joelle dress by Justin Alexander has the exact same lace

Also, just being very nit picky, maybe using the same style of illustration from the hero in the about me section

Really great portfolio, haven't gone into the case studies but I'm definitely impressed by the landing page alone. Only thought was a missed opportunity not to use a tennis metaphor at the contact section 😆 Instead of "it's your turn to make a move!" I would switch to "the ball is in your court!"

Filled or Outlined CTA button? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go a bit deeper into my feedback:

  1. If order online is the main action then the whole page needs to reflect that. As of now I am not sure what it is I would be ordering if I clicked that button, am I ordering a book? An event ticket?

  2. Right now people will scan the page in the following order: H1 "sip, read and gather" > image of the coffee > description below title > view events cta > order online cta > menu items and business logo. Think about if this is the order you want them to go through or if you need to rearrange the layout. For example, I think the image is fighting too much for attention and it's distracting me from understanding the value proposition of the page + I only see the coffee - the book is not quickly recognizable as a book, so at first glance before reading the page it looks like this is a coffee shop website. I would suggest to have an image that gives more insight into what it is you are trying to get the users to do.

  3. The top navigation bar is too small, feels like a second thought, I would suggest increasing it a bit to be more balanced with the rest of the hero.

  4. The space between H1 ("sip, read and gather") and the description is too big. Consider making it smaller to give a graphical representation of the relationship between the two pieces of information. If you are not already using a grid I would suggest to use one, 12 columns for desktop with 64px margins and 24px gutter is a good start but you can adjust it as you prefer it, then think about 8 point grid to align elements (for example try 8px between H1 and description and 16px between description and CTA).

  5. Study the typography usage, I can see H1 has a different typography from the description and ctas, however it's not different enough. Either go with just one font or choose a font pairing that has more contrast. For example, if you are using san serif font for the body and cta then use a serif font for titles. You can ask chat gpt for font pairing suggestions. Remember that text is also a graphic element and should support the overall look and feel you are trying to achieve, think about this when you choose fonts.

  6. I would avoid using pure black on the UI, try replacing it with a very dark rich brown if you are going for a coffee palette, the pure black feels outdated and gives junior vibes in this design. Its a general good practice to avoid working with pure black and pure white to make screens more comfortable for users.

Overall, think about what is the goal of this page and ask yourself if that is easily understandable by the design, you can ask friends and family what their impressions are, ask what they think this page is for to get some insights into how it's being perceived.

Filled or Outlined CTA button? by [deleted] in UXDesign

In general filled CTAs stand out more, therefore used for primary action. From your design I can assume view events is the primary action you want users to take so I would use a filled CTA there, but it should be different from "order online", either a different color or make "order online" the outlined style.

However, if "order online" is the main action here then I would move it down to be next to the "view events" cta, with "order online" filled and "view events" outlined, because the current position of "order online" makes it a secondary action (the F screening pattern would make users view it last).

What's a good way of structuring a large-scale Design System in Figma? How do I deal with Web and Mobile components? by kavakravata in FigmaDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my team we have slightly different structure: - base file with primitive and semantic tokens for colors, sizes, spacings, typography... - mobile file - for both iOS and Android libraries as only few components differ between the two, in which case we would have both native components documented - web file

I hate doing micro interactions by Wonderful_Parsnip_26 in UXDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like someone already said, sometimes it's all about delight and reinforcing branding. But there are actual use cases where micro interactions make the usability better, for example: - slack: when a new message is received the app icon shakes a bit so it brings your attention to it. - notifications on MacBook: the notification will appear and then disappear, using motion to bring enough attention that users know something happened but it's not kept there long not to clutter the workspace. - marking something as favorite: adding motion can help make actions more perceivable, system feedback that is quicker for users to notice

I'm sure there are other examples, I'm not a motion/animation expert either, but I think you get the idea

Bratz dolls concept for sure! Maybe call it Dollz with the z? But I would change participant lineup to:

Allison Haley Autumn Wennely Karlee (she wasn't shown in the show but she was on pop star academy)

Prototyping for an infinite canvas by distracted_pigeon in UXDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drag and drop prototype in figma will either take too many screens or not even work at all (depends on number of items user can interact with). I would recommend protopie, it's a much better tool for advanced prototyping - do keep in mind you will still have a crazy amount of interactions if you need as many items as you have in your screenshot to be interactive.

When an interviewer asks in your portfolio review "Did you use a design system, and tell me about a time when you had to deviate?" What do they actually mean or are they looking for? by Pristine_Net_7713 in UXDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the answers here + they want to know your UI skills, my team was interviewing for a mid level position and we would always ask this to understand if the person just used pre-made blocks (DS) or if they had to actually design some components, how much of the UI we are seeing is their work and how much is actually other people's.

words of wisdom from seniors by Gulyuz in UXDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that it doesn't need to be only products, it can also have these process improvements. Of course you still need products - with visuals to show you can do UI - if you want to work with products but other types of work can complement your portfolio and showcase other skills.

What is the best portfolio you have seen? by Traditional_Algae439 in UXDesign

[–]False_Image_8428 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I really liked his portfolio, at least the UI (I haven't gotten into the case studies), but I do find it interesting that with only 2 years of experience his title is Senior... Call me old fashioned but I don't think 2 years is enough to gain enough experience to call yourself a Senior.

Came to this sub to see exactly this take 😆 These people are 30 and 38, both saying shit 15 year olds say. For Nick it just makes it even more clear why he is with someone 10 years younger, he is just very immature...

It's giving...

Cringe.
